War Thunder from Gaijin Entertainment announced back in December 2024 that they would be changing the anti-cheat, which continues to be rolled out in stages.

I think you might be overestimating the computer acumen of the military.

I mean, are you running War Thunder on your Abrams tank or F35?

It won’t be on Linux. Many games that support Linux use a less invasive version of their anti-cheat for Linux.

Unfortunately that is sometimes used as an excuse for not supporting Linux or dropping Linux support.

I would be very very disappointed if they dropped Linux.

But only hackers and cheaters use Linux, didn’t you know???

In our efforts to combat cheating in Apex, we’ve identified Linux OS as being a path for a variety of impactful exploits and cheats. As a result, we’ve decided to block Linux OS access to the game. While this will impact a small number of Apex players, we believe the decision will meaningfully reduce instances of cheating in our game.

Seems like it is. The price you pay to play these games is to have proprietary spyware running with root access on your device
