As someone who doesn’t read Turtledove, what does that mean?

As someone who doesn’t read Turtledove, what does that mean?

I’m so proud of you

The problem to surmount is the decades of propaganda making the word socialism somehow demonic and evil.
It’s probably easier to change the party’s name. Lets just call it the Freedom party, because it is.

Who actually identifies as Democrats?
Boomers, genX, and the blandest millenials.

I am not defending thugs, I’m defending misled kids

Yeah, you’re right. No 18 year old from America should be raping pillaging and murdering their way across the middle east.
Don’t you think that’s worse than condemning them?
What? If some American kid is raping pillaging and murdering anywhere they should be punished for those crimes.

They have a duty to refuse illegal orders, I am not supporting war crimes

Check your privilege bud

Ignorant doesn’t mean stupid, it means they don’t know something.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. You sound like a Christian damning the ignorant to hell because they never heard about Jesus and never thought to look. They don’t know. No 18 year old from middle America is going to find information on US imperialism unless they look for it, and there is nothing in their lives suggesting they look for it.

They don’t know they’re the fucking boot. I won’t give them praise but I will give them sympathy. They don’t know what they signed up for. They’re kids born into an echo chamber of American propaganda. They don’t know what they’re doing. Nobody at that age does. Don’t celebrate their deaths, they’re victims too.

You’re making everyone here look like a callous asshole. Your mistake is assuming those who sign up have a good understanding of what they’re signing up for. They don’t know. Their sin is ignorance. I will never celebrate the death of someone in their early 20s or younger who doesn’t know any better and you shouldn’t either.

Does that mean Russia is justified attacking countries supplying Ukraine with weapons?
Ah so you’re saying these things transmit heat and generate electricity in the process?
How well would these perform if they were placed inside an exterior wall of a climate controlled space? Say there’s a 30°F difference between the outside space and the inside space.
They’re just recycling the same franchises, which is fine, but asking full price for what feels like an expansion is annoying. Tears of the kingdom is a good example.
Your numbers are mostly right but your conclusion doesn’t follow.
The 2% decline is due to a subsidy cliff. Q3 2025 was an all-time record 10.5% EV share, Q4 fell to 5.7% because the federal credit died September 30. Full year was still 7.8% and the second-best on record.
“823,000 F150s” is the F-Series, Super Duty and fleet included, not just one model. Through June 2026 it’s down ~13% YoY. By your own logic the F-Series is collapsing. Is it? (Ford Lightening is a great truck btw).
Japan doesn’t just sell cars in the US. It sells cars around the world. Chinese automakers outsold Japanese automakers globally in 2025, roughly 27M to 25M, the first time Japan lost the top spot since 2000. Japanese brands’ share in China fell from ~23% to under 10%. Honda China down 24% in 2025 alone. Nissan down ~60% from its 2018 peak, four straight loss quarters, 20,000 jobs cut. Toyota posted its first North American operating loss since 2008.
You said it yourself: they actually have to sell cars to stay afloat. They’re not staying afloat. Not because of internet comments, because BYD wrecked them in the largest auto market on the planet while they were explaining why EVs wouldn’t work.
Tesla killed S and X because the 3 and Y ate them and Musk says he wants a factory for moronic robots. Tesla still took 46% of a 1.3M-unit US EV market. That’s a product decision, not a demand verdict.
And yes, most US EV startups went broke. About 1,900 American car companies existed before 1930. Three survived. That was never an argument against EVs, its an argument against starting a car company.
Lastly, why are you even here? I don’t know why you’d come to an EV community on lemmy, a place full of enthusiastic EV nerds, just to attempt talking trash about EVs. That’s not going to go well for you. Now go have fun wasting your cash on gasoline and oil changes.
I’m on year six with no complaints bud.
I think the tribalism, purity testing, and mod power tripping is far worse here than reddit. I was banned from memes.ml two days ago for pointing out it’s in bad taste to celebrate the deaths of American soliders, and I totally don’t support at all what Americans are doing in Iran or Palestine. After a couple back and forths I was banned for spam. I was responding to comments, explaining my position, not spamming. Then to top it off, I was banned from privacy.ml yesterday. I saw a user I was arguing with the previous day using an argument I taught them. I literally explained something to them in a DM, and they were using it correctly against someone else, and I was again banned for “spam.” A single silly “I’m proud of you” comment. Granted it was obvious that they clearly didn’t like me but still, you can’t get caught doing that and not expect me to say something. Very immature.
What I find funny about it all is they’re banning someone who’s on their team. I’m on board with most of the stereotypical .ml ideology (I don’t think we’d get along OP), but some users, and especially those with power, have no tolerance for any dissent. I don’t even think I was dissenting, just saying the evil facist bootlicking troops probably aren’t as evil as they want them to be, so don’t cheer when they die. Is that really too much for some people?
