Broke my foot and embarrassed myself while drunk, woke up in a police cell and missed a day of work last week, so this week I feel I can’t complain but I will anyway, due to the broken foot, I am currently wearing a medical boot, a large chunk of plastic, the foot is fine but this thing has made walking a living hell. Then to top it off I’m moving house tomorrow 😬😬 And the drunken embarrassment thing, that’s been haunting my dreams (literally)

Free and open source ideas (#FOSI)@lemmy.ml•Toward a Truly Open‑Source Printer
1·8 months agothe print head is actually the part I’d like to escape, they are expensive to manufacture, get clogged, and burn out after 3 years of use – sooner than that for the throw away ones in the consumer market. print heads also necessitates an ink flushing system capable of suction. printer that use powder toner can sit for years with only toner degradation but does not ruin the printer itself, unlike leaking ink, or dried ink to the print head. beyond the print heads fragility, the head would need tight micro second electric pulseses set to fire at particular moments in conjuction with the movement of the XY axis. not saying your wrong but i’m just looking at this at a different angle. i want a printer that is hack-able, serviceable and easy to understand.

UK leftists@feddit.uk•The Green Party (UK) just voted to discuss abolishing landlords for good
5·10 months agoI disagree. my generation is the one of the few who wont own a property, while housing sits empty. this isnt a supply issue, its a monopoly issue. we have been priced out.
another great article, thanks for posting! and solidarity from South West Devon.

1·11 months agoIts not really AI output, I used AI for spelling and punctuation and nothing else. And leadoffs usually are are long, around 15 minutes is the usual target.

2·2 years agoPrivate property is theft piracy in all forms is morally exceptable. DMCA actively harms progress, and this isn’t some techbro take as I disagree with AI.
Turns outs not amazing but we still out number them.

Gaming@lemmy.ml•Steam doesn’t want to pay arbitration fees, tells gamers to sue instead
41·2 years agoBefore proton we used wine. And wine will continue development with or without steam.
If anything the open source community did more and gave steam a firm platform to build on.
Edit: And to add an observation steams push for Linux is a reaction to Microsoft becoming a contender in the PC games market place. Its not for our benefit anymore than for valves.

3·2 years agoi believe they are working on adding the mass bit, the thing with nazis though is the mass comes way later, first they build a strong SS.

11·2 years agodeleted by creator
wont happen, only way to get what we want is through a classless society. we lived through millionaires and things were okay but with their millions they could secure billions: money is power and while what you say is a better outcome for our current time its not a sustainable one for the future.
Thank you, will sort this.

UK leftists@feddit.uk•Mick Lynch: Trade unions need to do more to quell anti-immigrant protests
3·2 years agoAt its face what you say sounds correct but in actuality the division is inherent between worker and boss (repressor and repressed) whereas nationals vs’s migrants is manufactured.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.ml•Microsoft looking to restrict kernel level access after CrowdStrike incident might help us with our current Anti-Cheat dilemma
12·2 years agoA legal precedent should be established to hold companies as large as CrowdStrike liable for their actions. This liability should be significant enough to ensure that future companies will think twice before releasing faulty code. We should not be asking for or supporting Microsoft’s efforts to further lock down their product.

Yea right, a crazy chain of events. I’m all moved in, now its just a case of waiting for the bone to heal so I can get back to my default.
