  • I can talk about my experience, i tried to port pmos mainline for my galaxy a40 for a while, until the phone died :( it was not easy of course, but ppl on their supoort channels have always been helpful , and tried to help and even if i didn’t finished the port because my phone died, i did my luttle contributions to the wiki adding missing infos, improve some of the steps, adding deatils, etc. I think that every little contribution will help them.

Also now there is a started port of a40 if anyone is interested to continue it, and also the code for uniloader to boot (kr if u have a spare a40 to donate :) )

So even if not technical, helps with visibility, donations, documentation upgrade, installation attempts i think will be all welcome.

About the bar level. Big problem is the lack j of standardization of those devices, and all the different and various lock they put around, so for this one I think the main issue is there should be more standardization or more regulations among various devicee producers , like is with pcs (i. e. Bios, uefi) . Where there aren’t locked bootloader, or for installing alternatives u need to go through a satanic rite and sacrifice your youngest relative to unlock the bootloader. And tbh i think they are making a big effort in making all the process at least doable. Maybe if they will get enough attention, or a consortium of producers will try to co e with a standard, thjngs could be better

  • You need just to make sure you are comfortable with linux cli, then you learn the stuff the more you use it.

Building from source depends on the project. Usual linux way is:

    ./configure
    make
    make install

But that you always need to check the project you wanna build documentation. Since there are different build systems, and some project could be built on a different way.

Given the times where microslop github is being enshtittified (i started to call it slophub) you can use any of the other, it’s up to you (i started to use more and more codeberg), anyway to learn git, you need just make sure to use from cli, so any of the project hosting sites is fine (not even totally necessary, you can have your own project just locally, without remotes, but using on of the above, but in this case you will not deal with remotes, so is a good idea to use one of them, just stick with the cli).

When I said truly open source i was talking about the tools used, but of course i’ll appreciate if you do OO.SS stuff! :)

I would suggest you to use the integrated Godot IDE, especially as beginner, since gamedev is switching between ui part of the engine to set various stuff and coding, so having everything in a single application is much easier. And the godot code editor is also pretty good, give it a try first!!

Anyway setting up godot is one of the easisest things to do :D just download the binary file , make it executable, and run it.

Any question feel free to drop a DM or reply here.

What i meant talking about ownership in my previous comment, was the AI Slop user, that they could feel to have done something, but they actually didn’t the AI did it, and they didn’t wrote a line of the LLM output. Meaning that he did to himself more harm, thinking of being more productive. He didn’t produce anything, let a tool do it, that has been able to arrive at that point by stealing data all over the internet, without paying a penny. And the user didn’t gain anything from it, didn´t learn anything, that in the long term is a loss of skills, meaning a loss of value, and being easier to replace, that was what I meant.

And the big corporations will get out without paying much, they pirated content, but they have money. So any fine for them will be just a bunch of pennies. But I think that now they pirated more than piracy at its peak. But this has been considered fair use (Also the destruction of thousand of physical books, to have them digitialized to train the LLMs…)

  • Because in my opinion people are used to reddit, and is the biggest one, baiscally everyone else is there, why changing for a platform where you have evem to choose " an what? An instance?"), with a fraction of the users.

I stopped using reddit after the api rules changes, i quit twiitter as sson as that nazi guy bought it.

The main socials I use are mastodon and lemmy.

How many of my friends are on madtodon? 1 or 2, how many of them are active there? 0. And i think my nbers are even higher than wjat i think they should be because most of my friemds works in the IT

People unfortunately just wants everything quickly, without hassle, and are not prone to change.

A question on reddit? Probably you’ll get an answer in few hours. On lemmy? You are luckynif you’ll get one.

I have a small crafting page, that I’m trying to spread using only mastodon, it’s much harder. These are the reasons I think.

And most people don’t even care about the content of if their timeline is 85% ads and suggested pages.

They will just scroll. Algorithms are shitty, but who cares. Everyone is there…

  • Reread what you have written:

You are 22yo, you have done an experience abroad (and it already place you above lot of ppl that didn’t even left their own country), and i assume you speak at least a secind language beside your native one, then you managed to set up a new business, earning money, the businesses is successful, and the parents of this girl are trying to make you believe the opposite?

Well I think that you should be able to tell who is the failure.
