I took it last year. Had to stalk him in the woods. He cooperated though. Came down from the tree tops to my height.

Looks similar to the Eastern phoebe. Apparently these are local to me. I’ll have to keep an eye out.
I use Merlin for hunting new birds. My knowledge of birds is far less than my knowledge of photography.
I use Merlin too. After seeing so many different birds you pick up on their general shapes and features which usually means they’re related. The great crested flycatcher is in the same family as the phoebes, the Tyrannidae family, or tyrant flycatchers.

We get the phoebes too but they are only common during migration. Once nesting I’d have a hard time locating one even if merlin picked it up.
The leaves are starting to open here. Good for birds but more work for photographers.
Question How do you catalog your photos. Date or species. I organize by year and then tag end with some bird names or location. It’s becoming a pain to retrieve photos of a specific bird.
I use XnView MP. It’s maybe not the best way to do things, but it’s free and I can tag and search.
