Working on curing childhood cancer is emotional because it’s something that we as a society value collectively but clearly aren’t compensating the work enough. Why would you not contact police? I understand that this is a systemic failure and blame does not lie with that employee but if others me I’d rather be out of a job than have those deaths on my conscience for the rest of my life.

Even then, there are 18 year olds I’ve met that have the maturity of a 25 year old and 25 year olds that just don’t seem to have a frontal lobe. Age is an important heuristic but certainly not the only important factor when you are thinking about emotional maturity and power dynamics in a relationship.
