I fucking love these.

Actually, maybe. Anon left out the part where getting down with an athlete can amount to outrageously good sex.

I honestly don’t think that style of dystopia will require cameras at all. My best hunch here is that the self-checkout will migrate to the new “scan while you shop” model. Associating your personal scanning wand with, well, you is all it takes at that point.
Meanwhile what we’re looking at here is Walmart solving the problem of not having a good look at a shoplifter’s face, since there is no better place to stick a camera in their comically proportioned warehouse-sized stores.

The sno-cones are knocked onto the floor during an argument. Frosty here, a tremendous host, says “I’ll be right back” and leaves to go get more.
The cave is located in a remote location, way up top a mountain. He’s gone for maybe a minute at most. There’s no evidence of a kitchen anywhere in the cave. Yet, he suddenly comes back with six more yellow cones.

Thank you. This reminds me of the best gag in the whole movie, after they take a door to the arctic:

Yes, but they’re going to be:

I used to go to one of those. It has a lot going for it in terms of live acts, but basically it’s always the same. I stopped once I realized I was paying for the privilege of attending a Medieval Times themed shopping mall.
Yes, but Manga reading order aside: isn’t this particular woman also a yokai, and a rather malevolent kidnapping one at that?

She exclusively preys on children and young adults, tapping into a primal fear of child abduction.

Whoa, is that date actually when this was published? Not quite prescient, but only four weeks before “the world ended” if you go by how that felt at the time.

There’s something about watching a luxury import brand fast-track enshitification faster than everyone else, including economy options.

But dammit they’re gonna try.
This is where the bar is set. It’s literally total fascists and people cosplaying opposition, versus people that are actually attempting to do better. It’s on the fucking floor, but after watching democrats trip over it for 40+ years, I’m way past done with that bullshit. I’m voting for the “people who are gonna try.”
One of my favorite traffic hacks. Google maps would never recommend it, but it is faster.
What’ll really blow your mind is that all you’re doing is navigating a really weird traffic circle. The more direct ramps are really just slip lanes (optimizations) for said circle.

I had to look that up.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pluton_(missile)
The Pluton came in replacement of the U.S.-built Honest John missile. It had an operating range between 17 and 120 km (11 and 75 mi), with a CEP of 150 m. This short range only allowed strikes on targets in West Germany or within France itself, which led to the development of the longer ranged Hadès missile.
Jesus christ. This has such strong “Germany, do your part” energy to it, and I find it wildly crafty and pragmatic. It clearly demonstrates that France didn’t want to (or couldn’t) position themselves as a “first strike” or retaliatory power, but rather just wanted to deter invasion from (or through) all their neighbor states instead. After everything that happened to France during WWII, I kind of get it.
I’d go with the Frog-Mouth. It hits different.
It also gets hit different.

I found the core game to be… okay. I wound up with far too many ways to deal damage than I needed, nevermind the enormous stockpile of potions and other things that I carried around. But the challenge was never completely where I wanted or expected it to be.
Meanwhile I’m like one of 15 people in the world that hate playing gwent.
Edit: I only learned recently that you’re supposed to collect all the good cards before playing gwent. As someone that loathes pay-to-win-CCGs, I find myself disliking it even more now. Even though it’s just in-game, the concept of having to collect playing cards just isn’t fun to me.

First thing I thought of.

I misread that as:
The most profitable thing you can do is seize someone readily available […]
… and realized that also tracks.
That’s only because it’s tethered to the wall, lacks wheels, and is two tons underweight. Just like a house-cat: it would if it could.
Dude, I want you well rested and ready to fight at a moment’s notice. You get a whole bench if you want it. Hell, I’d even listen1 if you just need to vent; Joker has got be fucking exhausting to deal with.
That’s my understanding too. It’s like empathy just ends at one’s own line of sight. If I can’t see it or touch it, there may be something wrong with it. It’s infuriating.
