Oh shit, today I learned that software can’t be a complex system. That makes our jobs easier. I’ll be sure to tell IEEE.

gradeschool algebra
We don’t get computer science degrees from gradeschool, goober.
Yeah, it’s obviously logarithmic or something. There is diminishing value in money. I think the way you put it makes it very intuitive though.
So engineering is not what you said you believe it is, you actually believe it’s what you said it is except software engineers because you’re a condescending gatekeeper. Software engineering is different from programming.
Yes. But software engineers are engineers. Not all programmers are software engineers.
So you believe that
- Engineering is the application of math and science to plan complex systems and structures
- Computer science teaches math and science to plan complex systems and structures
But you believe that computer science prepares students for “programming”, not engineering, so they aren’t engineers. Despite it being about the application of math and science to design complex systems and structures (engineering) and despite the fact that everyone else calls this profession software engineering and you call it programming. And you don’t think you have a bias?
Programmers and Software Engineers are different things, tho

5·1 day agoYou’re thinking of Hachi, the movie about the dog who famously waited for his owner at the train station after his owner passed away.
On the cloud, duh
I could’ve sworn a court case decided otherwise. Literally EVERY AI model in existence right now is commiting copyright theft on a massive scale if that’s the interpretation the courts took. Which is why I have a hard time buying it. I fear it’s reached the idea of normalcy in people’s minds and we’ll never see it illegal.
Imagine me opening Lemmy during my pre movie piss at the urinal only to see this. I hate how accurate this is, but it’s amazing. I get nervous pee sooooo bad. It’s like everything just freezes up lmao.

2·2 days agoOh, maybe. Even then, for things in the public domain this shouldn’t matter. I know that’s probably not the majority of what they’re scanning though.

5·3 days agoI am of the very strong opinion that if any public funding for a sports arena is used then every game there must be broadcast to the people who paid for it for free. Bare minimum it should be broadcast over the air for the locals. But these franchises would have you believe that even that is an extremist position. As if seeing only home games of your local team would make you not want to pay to see any other games.

Games@sh.itjust.works•What game did you hate even after sinking a lot of time into it?English
4·3 days agoTotK fixed some of those issues, but I’m not sure it would make it enjoyable in your eyes. It follows a similar pattern of getting all the runes in the tutorial area before opening up. Each boss fight now has a longer dungeon that does give more unique abilities (and some that sort of open new areas) but not in the way metroidvanias do. Also weapons last much much much longer in BotW.

4·3 days agoMy biggest gripe with BG3 was that a major point of praise for it was how polished it was, despite it still being quite buggy and the UI being very annoying very often. Love the voice acting, I think it’s good, great even, I just don’t think it was God’s gift to humanity or that it deserved game if the year.

9·3 days agoAlso, if every AI company does this, then it’s more books gone. If they cooperated they’d only need to do it once. Good scans of all books in the public domain would be so useful for us all as society.
