Seriously insane anti-intellectualist culture were one’s correctness is measured by how confident and loud one proclaims one’s “facts” and how famous one is, rather than by being or not an expert in an applicable domain.

You see that shit even amongst people who think they’re leftwing - notice the frequent parroting of some shit or other said by showbiz celebrities as long as it aligns with one’s beliefs. (Sorry but an Acting Professional isn’t really an authoritative source for jack shit anything outside their expert domain in showbiz, even if one agrees with what they say, hence their words on other subjects should be treated as having the same weight as those of any other random non-expert).

The German government is apparently blocking EU Sanctions to Israel but that’s because it’s pretty easy to block things in the EU.

Making the EU actually do things (such as banning this band from entering the Schengen zone) on the other hand is way more difficult since the other ones can block it (which Spain would almost certainly do it on this subject and many others would do simply because they’re against blocking people to enter the EU just because one EU nation’s government discords with them politically - the bullcrap about criticism of Israel being anti-semitism has very little traction in most of the EU and apparently judging by recent news it has no traction even in the German Justice system).

I would say that the ultimate impact on Mankind of Climate Change is itself outside the scope of Climatology by itself - by its own nature it would be an interdisciplinary effort involving at the very least Climatologists, Sociologists and Economists.

That said, anybody can, as non-expert, mention some possibilities, though obviously not claiming any authoritativeness on the subject. (That’s what I tried to do, hence why I began by saying it was just my “hazarding").

The bankrupcy of Oracle when it blows up will be the silver lining of this bubble.

And Meta and Microsoft getting seriously screwed.

It could’ve worked, but one doesn’t do such risky culinary experimentations when cooking for others.

    Are they eating it themselves?

Because, IMHO, it requires both conditions to apply.

It’s a great demonstration of how what modern CEOs are really good at is bullshit rather than management.

They’re an entertainment technology, not a revolutionary business technology as they claim, so their maximum value is constrained by the boundaries of the entertainment market rather than being a significant fraction of the World’s Economy: basically they’ll at best have a Social Media Tech-sized Economic footprint, not an Industrial Revolution one.

However, that shit was sold to investors as an Economic Revolution and the investment footprint is proportional to that prospect and thus way bigger than it would be for “this will be as big as Social Media”, and by now all that’s left to try and keep that massive block of investment from crushing the far too narrow columnn or returns, is ever more desperate spinning of hopes and dreams fables.

When somebody insists that the food they made is good and that you should have some but refuses to eat it themselves, you know that they’re lying and the food is shit.

Well, the US did it to the EU by funding Leave in the UK (most notably via Cambridge Analitica), so it would be perfectly fair.

I would hazard that the the extintion of Mankind really depends on the innevitable water and food wars escalating out of control in the nuclear era or not.

A lot of this shit (you also see it in Economics, as Inequality explodes and Social Mobility grinds to a halt) can escalate out of control via the reactions of Human Societies to it (just look at the rise of the Far Right in response to the above mentioned trends in Inequality and Social Mobility).

As I see it, people’s and countries’ reaction to the problems caused by Climate Change are were the nastiest of nasty shit can come out from.

The current Economic structure is designed so that the thing that makes the most Money is having Money and tilted so that the more the Money the bigger the effect.

This is why, for example, many if not most countries have higher taxes on income from work than on income from dividends.

It’s not by chance that Social Mobility has collapsed to pretty much non-existence in most of the World, especially the US (were the saying “You can be anything” actually used to be true, but not anymore, not even close) - the Economy is so extremelly rigged for Money to make Money that the dumbest, laziest, most inept rich kid will keep on getting richer their whole lives no matter how much they fuck up.

Possibly even compounding, considering that there are more than just a Tech Stocks bubble and Realestate bubble at the moment (though those 2 are the largest) and any one blowing will probably cause the rest to blow.

On the “upside”, the Tech Stocks bubble is mainly in the US and countries with semiconductors as a large fraction of their Economy, such as South Korea.

I first learned Dutch as a non-native speaker (I’m Portuguese and lived in The Netherlands for almost a decade) and only after that did I start learning German, and knowing Dutch is both helpful for it (due to things live verb order in the sentence and many, many words being very similar) but also problematic because of the false friends and also because whilst speaking one language words from the other often pop-up instead.

I’ve picked up Spanish because of speaking Portuguese as my native language, but unlike with that language pair were I always know for sure if a word is on one language or the other (probably because Portuguese is my native language), with the Dutch - German language pair that’s not at all the case and they seem to interfere with each other a lot in my mind.

Even though I learned Dutch first and to a much higher level, I don’t really get a feeling of strangeness with German probably because they’re both strange to me.

That said, I do get that strangeness with Spanish, were there are also some weird unexpected things vs Portuguese (like going along a sentence which is pretty much the same thing with a different accent but there’s a single word that’s totally different), though not in composite words since neither language has that.

The Dutch word for “who” - wie - is the same as as the German word for “how”.

Nastiest false friend I know because it’s a very common use word in both.

If this one bursting ends the USD status as Reserve Currency, that would be great.

Painful, but in the mid and long term great.
