So probably not clear from title but I’d say this is a Linux problem. Basically I’m using sbctl to sign the cachyos kernel on fedora since it eeks out a little performance and also as I understand it it uses a slightly differently scheduler so my computer doesn’t lock up when hitting a steam download hard. I’ve only just started getting the error recently so I’m assuming it’s related to the MS secure boot key stuff that happened in June. I have confirmed that using the default provision from my mobo doesn’t trigger the vanguard error. Trying to figure out a solution, otherwise I guess I have half a mind to just nuke shitty windows forever again. I’ll take either an alternative solution to the cachyos kernel or a solution to the keys. What I don’t understand is doesn’t sbctl enroll the default keys from your mobos firmware anyway? Is this simply that ANY modification to my secure boot keys is somehow a problem with vanguard now? Thanks all!

I have really small ears and ear canals, and AirPods Pro’s are generally uncomfortable (both 2 and 3). They also suck at staying in my ears which defeats the purpose of them being gym buds as well. I’ve tried all kinds of ear tips to no avail. I vastly prefer headphones but unfortunately I have a hair type that gets ridiculous looking headphone lines in it when I wear them. So here I am. I’m hoping for comfort and then features next. ANC would be nice if it’s good, otherwise I guess I might consider wired if I can get much better sound. AirPods don’t sound great when I’m used to my HD 6XX lol.

Hopefully this isn’t too meta for this community. It’s been about a year since I finished school and have been working. I’m struggling to find the right balance between hobbies, personal projects, and also trying to get better/ higher paying job. I find that after a day of solving issues, banging my head into the wall wondering what previous owners of the codebase have done and dealing with business users makes me desperately want to have control over my own work. Whenever I get home though even though I might be excited to code something I just never seem to find the mental energy to do anything. After the gym and cooking a dinner I simply am so wiped I can’t do anything. Instead of making software, or doing music, I just end up watching tv, heck I’m usually too dead to even play video games. I desperately am also trying to avoid the “productivity pit” that is shoved in our faces everywhere but I really don’t want to let my skills atrophy or prevent me from being able to hop to a higher paying job in an industry I’m more interested in if I’m lucky eventually. How the heck do you all manage it?

Hi all, I’ve no idea if this is possible but figured I’d see if anyone has done anything similar. Here’s the problem: basically I have a tv that I sometimes plug into my desktop pc in my room. Problem is when I do so I have to manually move cables around to remove the desktop monitors and then I need a mouse and keyboard to get into steam big picture. If anything breaks along the way I need to use a keyboard and mouse again. What I’d like to do is somehow be able to say under certain conditions only use the tv as a monitor otherwise ignore it and vice versa so I don’t have to unplug it or replug it every time I switch between my desk or my couch. Another want is to have it boot straight to big picture when and only when my tv is connected. I suspect this is something I could solve with scripting? Just would need to know where to look. Also could possibly dual boot say bazzite but that wouldn’t be a full solution. I do have another pc that I’ve slowly accumulated from upgrades but the 7700xt isn’t really a 4k card. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

There’s a user running rampant with lack of artist attribution in the community. Frankly this is someone who should be banned and there should be a rule of no posts without attribution. I a world of AI stripping artists off f their work is an even bigger blow and is pure scummery.

Hi Linux Lemmites. Recently finished up school and started working full time and kind of miss working on personal projects. I’m looking to try to make something in rust and try out gpui if I can figure it out or maybe egui. I also want to make something maybe even a handful of people would actually use as I find that motivating, so I ask what would actually be useful to you?

I’ve tried vim on and off during college but never really had the time to fully get working with it. As it turns out the stress of two degrees is not conducive to “fun activities”. Now that I have a real job ™️, I’ve decided to finally try and use it this week full stop and I genuinely feel like a programming chad. There’s still a lot I’ll need to learn and probably overtime I’ll discover some inefficiency in how I’m using it now but it really does just feel good. I understand the hype now.

Recently got a pixel as a secondary work phone and was reminded that I actually kinda like android (my main is an iPhone). Problem is mostly that I don’t want an even higher level spyware device. Of course I could use graphene but I use Apple Pay, find my / AirTags regularly and I also would need to find good alternatives to iCloud, and photos which I honestly kind of like. I suppose I could possibly get a pixel watch and get around the pay limitations but maybe some users who have switches might have some general insight.

I’ve been wanting to get a 3d printer for a while and now I’m starting to finally look at getting one. It seems like in general though finding clear reviews and knowledge on printers is much harder than other things but maybe that’s because I’m not in the hobby yet. Bambu is a no from me but I’m open to other options. I was kinda looking at he centauri carbon but I’ve heard it’s pretty loud and I live in a small apartment. The Prusa Core One seems like a decent option but it’s all quite expensive so I don’t wanna save up for that unless it really is the best option and there’s nothing reasonable cheaper. What’s everyone’s thoughts? Absolute max budget is $1k but I would strongly prefer to spend something ~$500 or less
