Eh, did some research and it turns out you have no need for Objective C using any of the mainstream game engines (Unreal, Unity, Godot) and in general you only need it when working with old frameworks. I’d wager that pretty much anyone who started iOS dev in the last 5 years hasn’t even touched objective C except when working on legacy apps.
World runs on them though. I don’t mean business to consumer shit, all that can rot in hell. I mean business to business. There’s shit out there that’s incredibly niche, takes a ton of effort to develop, and there’s no way it would ever be achieved without a huge financial incentive (because it’s just so niche and it turns out paying tens or hundreds of people takes money). And someone’s gotta pay the people writing all your open source code so most of them need day jobs anyway, which will be difficult to have without any commercial software existing. Sometimes the “all our code is GPL, but you can pay us to host it for you” model works, but a lot of the time it doesn’t.
You do see how that’s functionally the same thing, right? Countries where journalists need to fear for their freedom or lives ARE 3rd world shitholes. I don’t mean 3rd world shithole in terms of poverty, I mean in terms of the form of governance.
Do you still have to use Objective C? They’ve been trying to get everyone to use Swift for nearly a decade now and Swift is a MUCH nicer language, but I have no idea about game dev in particular, since I’ve only done crappy little apps.
If you can’t afford or don’t want to buy a used Mac for this, I recently set up MacOS 26 on a Thinkpad t480s I had lying around. Turns out if you just google specific laptop model + hackintosh, you’ll easily find out if it’s a well supported model for hackintosh.
However whether or not this would work on a brand new Apple account or you’d just get banned for suspicious activity, I have no idea. My account is old and I have an iPhone, so it wasn’t as suspicious to them I think.
I thought we were talking about society, i.e a collection of 8 billion humans, and how it values each of those 8 billion humans, not me personally.
No, libraries should remain permissive IMO. Applications can be restrictive if they want to. I just don’t see any point in a copyleft library or framework.
This would be a neat gimmick if it came with free tickets to the movie. Considering the price of the cars and the fact that only newish ones get the ad, they could afford it. It might even be positive PR.
Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it’s comfier to cry in a Mercedes than a Lada
Try it if you like smelly farts
Well they realised that all the promised mountains of gold aren’t made of gold after all
There was an interview with a guy who went back and he was like “we were told that in Spain the government will give us everything we think of”
Sounds like someone was trying to cause instability in Spain by promising a bunch of people the world so they’d migrate.
For the uninitiated, Larry is far from the first official mouser of 10 Downing street, it’s a time-honored tradition at this point.
I suspect that depends on whether you’re self-published or have a record deal somewhere.
Any%? Wouldn’t that be just one emoji in this case?
Baby was mere weeks from developing nuclear weapons.
Did you hear about the actress who got stabbed? Reese something…
Witherspoon?
No, with a knife
Humans aren’t precious because there’s like 8 billion of us. 300 years ago it was probably more like 600-700 million (highest estimates around a billion) and it took more humans to achieve less work.
Under capitalism, more people means cheaper workforce because more competition between workers. Individual worker is valued less. Under communism you don’t put a dollar figure on a human the same way, but they’re still more expendable when you can just get another one to do the same job.
I’m not advocating for mass genocide or eugenics, I’m just saying that’s how it is and we better get used to it. Things are precious when they’re scarce. We’re not scarce.
And if you ask an AI to be critical, it’ll also tell you why this is useless lol.
As above. This was a global crisis. The issues were not caused by the Republican party, nor by the Democrats, nor by anyone even in America! I know… Imagine a thing happening that isn’t directly to do with America!
Welll there were some people trying to prevent lockdowns from being enacted, some people suggesting Ivermectin and bleach as cures or prevention for COVID, etc…
Different countries had very different outcomes and while the US wasn’t the worst, it could’ve been a lot better if a certain party hadn’t hampered any effort at improving the situation.
Probably used Grok lol
