Donald Trump wasn’t kidding when he said he could kill a man in the middle of 5th Avenue and not face any consequences.
He’s a well documented pedo, and may have even been involved in the murder of an infant he conceived on a child, and Republicans are still bending over backwards to make sure he’s free to trample on the US Constitution.
They’re bending over backwards because they foolishly brought him into the group and he has access to the blackmail they obviously require for joining the R cult. And with his narcissism and clear dementia getting worse by the day, he is likely to blurt something out in response to any small slight against him.
I do believe you’re right. Conservatives constantly demonstrate their hypocrisy and intellectual dishonesty as well as their self serving nature. There’s a real possibility for people publicly railing against mandami to signal in-group but vote for him in the secrecy of the booth to their benefit.
I should ask the local pizza shop owner about this. He was pretty anti zohran. He said it’s because he grew up in a post Soviet country, and believed socialism would turn into poverty for all.

I always try to view a subject as if I were an uninvolved third party, look for objective facts, and because of it I’m always getting into fights with excited revolutionaries who don’t care if post is true or not before using it as support to reinforce their worldview.
RememberTheApollo_They always confuse socialism with harsh authoritarian dictatorships, no doubt reinforced by right wing rhetoric. It’s ironic that people flee these crushing governments only to come to the US and vote for right wing authoritarian fascism. Just proves they haven’t a clue about socialist policy and the ability to differentiate between that and horrible leaders.
Because a certain group of certain countries made the main comparison axis “capitalism - communism” instead of “totalitarianism - freedom”. I wonder why.
I was going to add that it’s also reinforced by modern day communist dictatorships but then I remembered those are also right wing.

Big business needs to be dragged out into the street and beaten to death with 2x4s, to make room for little guys and little businesses to pop up and serve their local areas, that they live in, and are connected too, instead of some soulless corporate fuckshit that has all the decision making a thousand miles away in a festing cespit (delaware) that has nothing but other HQs and decision makers around them.

Grocery store owners and barber shops? Independent restaurants? Wtf are you talking about? These businesses barely stay afloat in NYC. Same class but they sign a few paychecks. Save the half disdain for their vendors and giant competitors squeezing them out and killing fair competition in the market.
SchmooI mean, small businesses are petite bourgeoisie. That’s just the definition of the term. That doesn’t mean they are an enemy of socialism and I don’t think that’s what the person you’re replying to was saying. Of course it would be ideal for small businesses to adopt a cooperative structure but it would be foolish to suddenly try and push that on existing small business owners. In the meantime it’s good to change policy to favor small business over corporations because it distributes wealth more evenly, enables greater social mobility, and fosters community.

I have a favorite bodega in Brooklyn (shout out to Omega Deli and Cafe!) and there are so many more that deserve this win. I can’t wait to see this sort of small business support flourish and hopefully expand to the rest of the state for years to come. It’s pretty much the only hope we have to combat the rot due to undue sudden divestment from the federal level.
It scares me just how corrupt the federal government is becoming. When I was very young there were very few mentions of wrongdoing. Now it is multiple times per week. If there are no consequences, then this will continue to worsen. The people of the US must start fighting this and NOT wait until there is no other choice (i.e. when there is nearly nothing left).
It’s how empires die. You can read about the same thing happening in Rome. Just like today, some of it is so ridiculous it sounds like satire
I take consolation in the fact that we’re speed running the process… Our system has been broken a long time, it’ll feel painfully slow but we’re likely to see the day when we can begin to build something better
To be fair, a lot of that feeling is due to us having more information, delivered more quickly. I watched a history video recently on the rampant corruption during Ulysses S Grant’s presidency. It led to a lot of reform to prevent it happening again.
The video used it as a silver lining to show the US can come back from the bullshit currently happening. Not sure I agree. I’ve lost my faith in not just the government, but at least half of my fellow citizens and am planning my exit. But you know, the point remains.
Hear hear! I see that desperately needed grassroots work being done in small pockets everywhere! It truly starts with us, and I still have the radical hope that it can be done in my lifetime - to spread sustainable practices and reap the benefits for the next generation. They’re gonna need all the help they can get surviving on this planet. It’s not worth scrapping; it’s worth saving!
