Get a new one and then try to salvage this one, and keep it as a hot spare - pun intended.

Programming@programming.dev•Codeberg had a major outage today! About 7 hours of complete down (July 31, 2026)
211·1 day agoStill better uptime than Github
Hide behind “dismissing GrapheneOS fanboys” all you want, but the points raised about SailfishOS being proprietary are valid. It is the same as running Samsung’s OneUI, or Google’s Android - the underlying core is FOSS but the layer with access to all your data is proprietary.
For the record I don’t use GrapheneOS.
These businesses bill Australian customers for advertising - they follow Australian laws. 4chan is different though…

Technology@lemmy.world•Game Pass Was Supposed To Save Xbox – Instead, It’s Killing the CompanyEnglish
24·4 days agoXbox has its own CEO, it is its own company, wholly owned by Microsoft. Xbox then also owns other companies like Mojang, Zenimax Media, Activision Blizzard … They own companies too… Its companies all the way down. This way if one fails, it’s bankruptcy doesn’t take down the whole chain.

1·11 days agoI agree - there is a big difference between being socially shunned for being an asshole or vocalising contempt and being publicly outed and then criminally punished for it.

1·12 days agoWe only have one solar system. Sol is the name of our star. Every other system of planets around one or more stars is a star system.
If humans ever leave the Solar system and take the PV Panels we use now with us, they will no longer produce solar power… (This is a gripe I have with the Starfield game).
We have PV Power Systems…

Technology@lemmy.world•Victoria proposes forcing social media platforms to unmask anonymous accounts accused of vilification: “These reforms will help victims of online hate find out who’s really behind the keyboard.”English
4·13 days agoVilification is the act of speaking or writing abusively and negatively about someone or something in an effort to lower others’ opinions of them. In a legal and human rights context, it refers to public behavior or hate speech that incites hatred, severe ridicule, or serious contempt towards individuals or groups based on their identity.
Differs from libel/slander which is false and negative speach/writing about someone in that vilification doesn’t necessarily have to be proven false, just abusively framed.

1·14 days agoNo “You can use that but you have to report on difficulties or disadvantages”.
No “You can use AI, but you are responsible that the result works and is correct, no slack on this, and failure to do so gives you minus points”.
No “You can use it, your max token budget is 100 USD per month”.
No “You can use it, but do not input any company secrets, confidential data, medical records, or things like passwords and security-relevant data”.
These are all policies at the company I work for. Only its $100 AUD, not USD.

2·15 days agoI know in Western Australia, where I live, it is illegal to have the phone resting on any part of your body.

I wonder where the line is drawn between on your lap vs in your pocket. By that I mean, what if it is in a clear pouch on a lanyard around your neck, or in a running-armband. In both those cases it could still be used by need not have been touched while the car is driving.
