This will be more like the men of iron. Discussed far more than warranted, given the ease of their destruction.

World News@lemmy.world•Uefa tells Gianni Infantino: resign or we will vote to oust youEnglish
5·6 hours agoAs I understand it, it was because they had multiple leagues of various types of football, and they were trying to differentiate soccer from the other leagues.

Today I Learned (TIL)@lemmy.ca•TIL the steepest roller coaster drop belongs to a TMNT themed coaster in a mall.
2·1 day agoNot bad for an indoor coaster. I think it may have been slightly better if they had made it dark, like Flight of Fear.

politics @lemmy.world•House Democrat Unveils Bill to Cut Off Funding for Trump's Iran War
1·2 days agoI’d argue it started with Jackson. "Mr. Marshall has made his decision, now let’s see him enforce it " Teddy didn’t help things with his run around Congress. It’s been there damn near the whole time, at least ever since Congress started cedeing power to the president in the early 1800s.

Enough Musk Spam@lemmy.world•Why would Elon block a bill banning AI-generated child porn?
6·2 days agoThe law in question is a Minnesota State Law, not a federal one. Trump isn’t involved. Pretty sure that Walz is who would be signing it into law.
Whatever you found in Congress is concerning, though.

5·3 days agoNo argument there. I’m very glad to have had GPS whenever I’ve been on a boat/ship, but if I absolutely had to, the BSA taught me to use a compass and astrolabe with a current OSRS chart.

Technology@lemmy.world•Largest U.S. Grid May Cut Power to Data Centers to Prevent BlackoutsEnglish
3·3 days agoIf you own your home, I know that seems to be shrinkingly rare in this state, a solar setup and battery backup/ grid controller is well worth it. Mine will pay for itself with the power I’ve sold to SDG&E, not to mention all the power I use, in another year or so. I installed my system in mid 2019, and we don’t even know when there’s a blackout/brownout until I text the ISP as to why the Internet is out. I should really get a meshnet node…
My primary forms of transportation are my E-bike and the trolley. If I can’t get there that way, or need additional cargo capacity, I have a Chevy Bolt, so I’m actually using a fail amount of electricity above and beyond the normal appliances.

So take me back to Constantinople!

If the emperor had a text to speech is honestly a pretty good primer. Just remember that it is only about 90% canon. They’ll get into the full history of the galaxy about 12-15 episodes in, but they are fairly short up till that point
