Apple dropped support for a $1k watch that’s only 4 years old meanwhile the humble $25 Pinetime has been supported for 6 years with more updates to come.
I got more than that from my Moto 360.

Being android wear 1, I think it was Google who started killing it off. It was ok until you had to get a new phone, at which point you had to side load Google services to the watch via adb if I remember right.
I replaced the battery a few times over those years. I’ve given up on it now.
