Fight and flow through procedurally generated maze-like worlds, equipped with upgradable active & passive abilities and defeat evil pointy foes.

Round is good. You are round, You Are Circle.

You can execute devastating combos with your active abilities. For example, use Crash to quickly move into a group of enemies and stun them, while simultaneously using Pull to draw them close enough to finally finish them off with the huge area-of-effect damage of Slam.

Unlock new mechanics, abilities and upgrades by reaching special milestones. Gather coins from defeated foes to permanently upgrade yourself between runs to become even stronger.

The demo contains the first two stages of the first world and a limited portion of the metaprogression. Development of this game is on-going, so please leave feedback!

AUR support when lmao, playing in browser is fine, but AUR would be cool

What do you mean by AUR?

Arch user repository

I don't know much about build scripts, but if its just an exe, i think you can just compile and set arch as a target?

As long as you can do that every time it shouldn't be too hard

Does the linux build not work for you? I followed the official itch guidelines to make it as portable as possible across distributions.

It builds for you on aur, but i think because yours is a simple executable with a shell installer ill try and see if it works
but once theres multiple files and alot of code AUR would be nice

This was really cool. I love the sound of the main weapon. Reminds me a little of geometry wars. The second area is brutal. Really addicting and love the challenge. I found the stun weapon to be really good combo mixed with the homing projectiles once you get them upgraded.

Cool game. I keep getting killed after running into the invincible sniper that has the blue shield on level 2 though.

https://dr-drizzle.itch.io/zombo-hunters
can you tell me any things to improve on, i want my game to be like yours!

Are the enemies on the second level with the blue shielding invincible?

No you can eventually kill them. Also the green ships are buffing and healing.

(+2)

So freaking fun.

Played for an hour straight, just grinding.

Ended up never beating it, skill issue ig.

Lovely game.

Intense, exciting, skill-based, and sometimes overwhelming.

Great work :)

Thank you, it means a lot!

How did I get 3 rifle kills without using a rifle?

Ooof, probably a bug I think. Which passives did you use? That'd help to narrow it down.

if I remember correctly it was armor, acceleration and either damage or regeneration.

Thank you, that helped. Turns out that must have been some rocks that were mostly damaged by enemies with the rifle ability, and then killed by you. Will fix on the next release.

even better question, how did you get 90k damage????

Can the guys with the blue invincible shield be killed??

yes, but just with small bullets ig.

not exclusively: In general, projectile weapons break shields, while auras and AoE effects like explosions do not.

So if you have the seeker and launcher, you would not be able to kill them?

That is, at the moment, correct. Unintended interaction between different mechanics. I'll fix it.

this is a very fun game! i think if you released it for mobile it would received very well

(+2)

I'll consider it, but I don't really see it working as is. Maybe with more automatic shooting like a survivors-like?

i think two virtual joysticks would work just fine

I guess the two thumbs would control the virtual joysticks then, but how would you shot?

if you push the aiming stick far enough it shoots, i swear there are games that do it like this but i can’t remember any

Yea, that makes sense, but it only works for one trigger. You can have up to four active abilities though.

im sorry, but the shotgun shooters are just too op. everytime i get to the 2nd world i insta die (maybe skill issue?) but please nerf

Then the seeker. its fun to play, but only if you upgraded it 3 times. That is ok, well i think its more lategame, but could the missile spawn in front of you? I died two times to this already.

at last, please make the drops more uhhhh, unrandom. in some of my seeker runs i just got nearly 0 xp for 1 minute straight.

Uhhhh, but i played this game for 2 hs already so the gameplay loop is good and i had fun

(+2)

Balancing is still work-in-progress, I also feel stage 2 can be too bursty. I'll change that.

thanks

I think it's actually really rewarding once you get to 2nd level and are able to survive, then you upgrade quickly. Frustrating at first, but figuring out the loadout that works best for you and preparing for 2nd level was very satisfying!

What loadout was that for you?

Not 100% sure, but pretty sure Gravigun and Launcher, not sure about passives though. Seriously i NEED MORE =P

I use seeker + rifle/gravigun, seeker tends to miss early on, so i choose somth to kill crashers quickly

(1 edit)

Perfect, i get some freezes but it's mine laptop i think. U made a great work fir demo. There's enough of content to demo. Like in casualties unknown. Respect! And thanks for this game. There's so Small quantity of good games i can launch on my scrap.

You're welcome, and thanks for the kind words!

this game is awesome, i hope its free lol

and for some reason, i beat the whole demo using this comp:
rifle, seeker, armor, damage, health and health regen

its literlly not possible to get to level 25, cuz i beat the whole thing and i got to level 17

Wait for more worlds

There was a bug that caused a lot less XP in stage 2 than indented. I'll fix it. Sorry!

ok

it doesnt work in controller, im actually making a top down game, and i am trying to work on a controller system where aiming is not tedious, but wow, these graphics are crazy, if you have any pieces of advice please do tell, if the game was made on unity.

It's not made in unity, that's just not for me. Glad you like the graphics :-) What specific advice do you need?

the whole neon look

Dude this was awesome, I already love the game play loop! The actual gameplay is tight and very responsive. I love how crisp your sound design is, those base beats really keep my attention and drive the tension. The visuals are wonderful and fit one another very well, I feel like I am in a version of the old school tron games. Yeah I know, no light cycles but for me I'm locked in each round. Numbers go up! Loads of that here and everything I saw does seem to matter but for me personally it's one of those oh that's cool kind of features.

If I had any complaint, it's that I personally would love a story with the game. Does it need much of one? No, not at all, but you have built something awesome here and I want an excuse to spend more time here. Even just small snippet messages about what's going on when I hit a level or certain amount of sessions would be golden to me.

I would legit play longer just to know more about it, for me personally, if I wasn't designing games as well I would spend way more time here. However, your web version of the game made me realize I really need to tune up some things in my own project because, wow I am humbled by what you've pulled off here. If there are story elements already and I missed them because I ended my play session too soon, no worries. I know I'll be back to check this out again.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the praise, dude.
I just don't know if I have it in me to write a good story, and I figured I'd rather focus on what I can do well. I will certainly try to make meta-progression more engaging for the full game so you'll always have that 'one more thing to unlock' feeling. It's not the same as a story, but it serves a similar purpose.

Word I appreciate the response, small idea then instead of doing any type of story maybe just unlocking enemy descriptions as we progress? With how your enemies move, track, attack and are visually, I can only imagine you crafted their vibe for specific reasons. Just extrapolating on that would honestly be more than enough.

I have beaten the demo with: shotgun, flash, acceleration, shield, counter, +damage; auto fire was a blessing
I would like to complain about flash doing a 180 and fleeing the enemy's rockets, and the difficult spike between areas 1 and 2, the laser guy and 3 shots guy being being way too strong

Pretty cool! Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to improve on flash's targeting and the balancing. About how many runs did you need?

i beat the demo on run 20

This has been so very fun! Great controls and an awesome 90s vector style with pumping music that immerses me and pulls me in, craving to defeat every foe and survive!

(+1)

Love to hear that. Which ability did you like best?

Probably the dash, it's usually so much fun in games like this because it's risky but powerful, but the flash is incredible for controlling crowds as you back away, even if you nerfed the damage a little, it still works great for managing a horde, especially with a little mobility enhancement.

Controller supporttttttt… Please :) Very cool game eitherway.

Is it not working? It is implemented for sure. Personally, controllers are not working for me in Firefox, no matter which game or app, but it works fine in Chrome.

It seems like the enemies' stats increase with my own?? I got acceleration leveled up really high and the enemies seemed to be moving faster too.

There’s no dynamic difficulty! You can see their power level on their rank insignia. You probably ran into a higher difficulty squad just after you upgraded

finally reached stage 2 but died just as i entered stage 2

i kept going until the laser ship, that was kinda hard

love the game so far, issue with the steam version with my controller disconnecting every time I'm hit, also no music which is a bummer

That is super weird. There’s a rumble effect that happens when you get hit, maybe that’s causing the disconnect? There should be music too

(1 edit)

Nice vector style, I like the level up screen! I think I'm making a kind of similar game maybe we should bundle on steam when they are out.

Thank you! Absolutely, sounds like a great idea. I'll have a look at your game later.

(+1)

nice game! i like the effects

Much appreciated, glad you like it

(+1)

gravity thing is cracked, fire game

(+1)

agreed, the gravigun is great and is probably the best weapon in the game

ty! I'll make more of that :-D

Really neat game, but there is a regression in the  0.24 version with really bad performance.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll try to fix that. Is it bad everywhere e.g. in the menus and in runs?

Only in runs, the menus are fine, might help narrow it down.

(+1)

Should be better now!

(+1)

Really fun game, nice job.

(+1)

Pretty good! The Gravigun seems ideal for the early game thanks to its fire rate and slight seeking. The major barriers to progress are the 5000 rifle kills and 500 heals milestones

(1 edit) (+1)

started playing maybe two days ago? just forgot to comment

this game is surprisingly fun! the name is a bit silly imho but the gameplay more than makes up for it. i’ve been suggesting it to some of my friends and they seem to enjoy it too. keep up the good work! can’t wait for this to become a full game! :)

(+1)

Hi, I played your game and made a video about it. Just wanted to let you know.

Woa, that's pretty cool, left you a like and a subscribe.

I noticed the game ran a lot slower than it should. Maybe at 60% speed, from eyeballing how fast the power burst timers were ticking down. This is probably due to me not optimizing it yet. Care to reveal what specs you were playing on?

Thank you.  I googled it and "specs" is a term for multiple traits of a computer. What exactly do you want me to check?

CPU and graphics card should give me a good idea! Thanks

I opened the task manager. My CPU's base speed is 2,30 GHz and my graphics car is AMD Radeon (TM) Graphics.

(+3)

Man, this whole demo has been pretty good. Im a fan of the difficulty and learning curve. The enemies are challenging but add to the excitement this brings. (The rifle and seeker combination has been pretty unforgiving)

Thanks for the kind words!

(+2)

Great roguelite! I appreciate that this is clearly influenced by VS but managed to change the actual game structure as to not feel like a VS game, and the simplistic neo vector graphics and snappy gameplay is the final bit that can lock you into this game's loop.

(+1)

Thank you! What gave the VS influence away?

(1 edit)

The Level up > choose upgrade from 3 thing, its pretty trademark
something i also didnt compliment but have now gotten to appreciate is the enemy design, all of them have gimmicks that push you back, get you to lay your focus somewhere else, influence weapon choices, and some even flank.
If there's gonna be any build in the near future, can you please include an endless toggle?

(+1)

What do you mean by endless toggle?

No level limit!

(+2)

I love the old shooter maze concept, great game!

As someone pointed out, some weapons don't seem to be very useful. Grenade launcher is kinda weak. If it at least had a decent AOE. But I wasn't able to test it much because I lost too soon haha

Thank you, glad you like it!

Launcher is a tough starting choice for sure, but it scales nicely especially once the AoE gets a lot bigger.  It's great against the glitch fragments enemies you see later. Also, it has a crazy synergy with the singularity ability you can unlock later, e.g. see the gif here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/3578190/view/528735466048981363?l=englis...

(+1)

A couple thoughts after playing more runs... I think I did 14 or 15 so far.

The difficulty ramp from level 1 to level 2 seems steep.

I wan't to be able to zoom out.

Grav gun / Rifle is by far my preferred combo, I don't see how anything else could compare (maybe later in game the others shine?)

Happy to elaborate on these thoughts if you'd like.

Sure, feedback is always welcome. You can post it here or come to the discord or use the steam forums.

Looked around and didn't find a discord link, mind dropping me one here or pointing it out for me?

You have to click on "More Information" and then on the last line there's links to Steam and Discord.

I landed here. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if its on the other end.

(+1)

Oops, sorry. Seemed to work when I tested it, but maybe because I'm already logged into the server. I replaced the link with one to the server instead of the channel. Does that work?

(1 edit) (+1)

Personally don’t like the rifle (not really a fault of the rifle, of course, I just don’t like it, especially when compared to the other choices available)

The Gravigun is just generally fun. The homing isn’t too sharp, but it’s powerful enough to make it actually perform well at range whereas the rifle’s accuracy (at early levels, at least) makes it useful at a distance and uh… not so much at range. At that point I might as well use the shotgun, fan, dash, etc.

The best combo I’ve found, however, is Gravigun + Seeker/Dash. Their playstyles are pretty different from one another but they synergize the best imho. Launcher is a good alternative to Seeker if you find its arming time too slow.

EDIT: so… just learned you can fire multiple weapons at once. gravigun + rifle has to be a war crime somewhere with how fast it obliterates enemies

(1 edit) (+1)

Cool demo, gonna have to come back and give it another go later. Any chance at a Mac version?

Thanks :-) I occasionally run this on a mac for development, so... maybe? I'm not using an engine, so it's not super trivial.

(1 edit)

Runs pretty nicely in my browser anyhow. Controller support would be rad. It's works well as is, but for myself I find that with mouse style pointing (as opposed to twin stick, for example) I sometimes make critical mistakes where I think the mouse is in one spot and it's in another, and then I'm firing the wrong direction for a moment as I fumble to fix it. I played a few more runs last night, this is the kind of thing I'll definitely buy and play through the full game, very nice. Wishlisting now. :)

Thanks for the praise! It means a lot. So I guess controller support did not work for you then? It works for me on chrome or edge, but not on firefox. But I couldn't get my controller to work on anything in firefox, so I thought that just does not work.

I’ll test again later… I have many controllers hooked up to my computer regularly for testing (in progress making a local multiplayer battle game myself) and the only one I had w me when I came across your game was my nock off brand one, could be related? I’ll test them all in the browser and on windows over the weekend (if I have time) and let you know.

(+1)

Apparently I was just being dumb before, the controllers I have tested this evening all work. Playing in Chrome.
