Cannibal Court is a trial-simulator set in the snowy Canadian north.

Use your words to save the girl from your fellow cannibals.

Issues? Check the Troubleshooting section below.

This prologue features:

  • A short, self-contained scenario that precedes the events of the full game.
  • Hundreds of dialogue options that emerge systemically.
  • Fill-in-the-blank game play in your knowledge codex as you learn about the cultists and uncover their psychological weaknesses.

The full game will feature:

  • A new scenario, with new dialogue and more secrets to find... let the rites begin!
  • More cultists, each with their own personalities and likes/dislikes that you must navigate.
  • More complex systems that build on the prologue systems here.
  • And of course, bug fixes and improvements based on feedback from this demo.

Hey, I'm a bit late, but when I try to select a dialogue option, nothing happens! I seem to have the same problem as secretstars, but I'll try to download it instead and try the game again! ^^

Ah thank you! Okay I'm going to try looking into this again and seeing if I can get an update for the browser version up (if I can track down this bug). Otherwise, I am in the process of porting the demo to Steam which might have better luck. I'll let you know either way -- thanks for dropping a line!

hey!! when I try to select a dialogue option by left-clicking and holding, nothing seems to happen? Like the text changes color for a moment but the dialogue box just stays there and it doesn't advance. :( I'm not sure whatall information would help, I was trying it on Opera, I'm running Windows 10? I was using Opera because it wouldn't run at all on Chrome so maybe it's just a me problem, haha, or maybe I'm doing something wrong

(+2)

Oh no! I've been trying to recreate this bug but I can't. I even downloaded Opera browser and it works fine for me. But if it helps, I did just upload a downloadable version of the game for Windows -- maybe that would help?

If not, I also just uploaded the game on Newgrounds: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/1025458

Regardless, apologies! I wish I could recreate it to fix it, but thank you for pointing it out! You inspired me to at least offer alternative ways to play it. Eventually a downloadable demo will also be on Steam too.

thank you so much for trying, and yesssss i was excited when i noticed this, i'm so glad, thank you!! i will try out the downloadable version and see if it goes better! :D

Played on stream though I regret presenting it as I did. It was part of an itch game that sees me play a lot of demos quickly. This game however really deserves its own stand alone spotlight. I want to know the story, I want to exhaust all dialog, it is a an interesting concept.

You're too kind! I was a little worried when I got to the words "regret", you had me nervous haha. What a twist though! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I'm going to continue working on it and improving on this early demo though, I've gotten good feedback. If you have any, feel free to let me know, but even if not, thank you so much for checking it and out leaving such a nice comment!

Played your game and I have to say it was really good for a demo and im really excited to see what the full game will have in store, I will also definitely have to replay this game cause its really fun!

Thank you so much!!! I left a note on your video too, but it's very cool to have players who've been here from day one (with Conversations with Cannibals) continue to check out the game and help me shape it into something bigger and more ambitious. I really appreciate it and hope you enjoy the full release when it's out!

(1 edit) (+1)

Tense and packed worldbuilding in an art and game style reminiscent of Pathologic, an incredibly entrapping game loop that leaves nothing left to be desired, though I know that further packing only one trial would get cumbersome, maybe as a part of the Third Twin: new situations could arise and autonomy could be used to shape the community.

Or maybe the binds are the point.

Oh also your game's resolution doesn't scale right initially lol, if somebody else is running into this issue, drag your taskbar to the side and it'll give you the full window.

this ones yakubian i fear

Hey, thank you so much! I am trying to tune the loop on the scale of mysterious to confusing, so it's very cool to see how much of the lore you gleaned! Right now my thinking for more content involves even more characters and cultists, some of whom are hinted at in this demo. But you could in theory run the game through with any different combination of cultists, which would also result in different dialogue options entirely based on who's present. And I would love to add more ending possibilities, including ones that "shape the community"!

I'm sorry about the resolution issue! I haven't encountered that on my PC or Mac, but I will investigate and see if I can reproduce and fix. Thanks for the heads up!

And finally, thanks again for leaving such a detailed comment, I really appreciate the feedback!

I really wanna play this but it keeps saying "noindex out of bounds" on Firefox. I tried it with Google Chrome, but now it says "memory access out of bounds". I don't know what's happening T____T

Hey! Okay, so you inspired me to just put a downloadable build of the game up! It wasn't the original plan but I would love for you to have the chance to play it.

Firefox is a known issue, but I'm surprised it's not working in Chrome! I tested Chrome, Safari and Edge across both PC, Macbooks and mobile and it worked all right for me, so not sure what's going on.

Anyways, I hope the downloadable build (if you're cool with downloadables) works for you instead. And I hope if other people run into the same issue, it helps them too. Thank you so much!!!

Thank you so much for responding fast and for putting up a downloadable as an option!!! Really appreciate it. I'll be playing it nowww yay!

No problem! I've only ever posted browser-games up here, so let me know how it goes haha

Holy, this is such a good follow up to Conversations with Cannibals! It took me a few deaths, but I finally won! I even got a "secret" ending, I think?

This was so fun! I've already wishlisted on Steam, can't wait for the full version!

Thank you so much!!!!
