As a non-electrician, I see nothing wrong with this other that few things looking a bit wonky. However, the fact that the photo was posted here gives me enough context to understand that something must be very wrong.
You haven’t watched enough sci-fi if you don’t see this as a set up for spider machines murdering a bunch of peaceful colonists/researchers. Well, ok, one guy is a complete asshole and he’ll be directly responsible for the machines coming to life, but he’ll get his.
So, it’s a reference to a movie I haven’t seen? Does it have a name, so that I can look it up?
I didn’t have a specific once in mind, no. But spider-bots are not uncommon in sci-fi and it seems to me that robots with tentacle cables are equally common in the horror sub-genre. That’s what it reminded me of, is all.
