It’s when you probably have your life in order and are comfortable with who you are. It’s a good time when you are most you.

Though for those who haven’t got either of those, it’s probably not going to be a good time. I feel for those people, I know a few.

It’s getting bad out there, and it’s not visible on the surface but a tsunami of bug reports and patches has been sweeping the internet and drowning anything unable to swim.

For anything that sinks underwater, metaphorically, they’re getting grabbed by automated sharks that are now actively on the attack. If you’re not rapidly fixing everything and monitoring everything closely you’re probably being eaten alive without knowing.

I’m finding myself having to guide people through UIs that have random symbols instead of an obvious word that says what it does.

It’s annoying and getting worse.

You can easily use a word button to point to a side out menu with words, all language localised, that will actually make sense to a user instead of causing a tech anxiety attack!

I shouldn’t have to scout and translate a UI for someone. If there’s one bright side to all the AI being pushed at users is that it’s at least able to communicate with actual text, and usually wants to be user-friendly instead of hostile.

I’ve been of the opinion that Silicon Valley and tech in the US has effectively drawn in the very best of several countries and collectively robbed so many industries of some of the smartest people around.

These people retraining or going back home and into other industries could be an economic boom in the making.

Well, there’s always supercritical CO2 for getting a bit more spin for your heat.

It’ll be the deeper corners with tech and product advice, Reddit still comes up often when searching for solutions and it’s because one of the communities had someone who knew the answer.

It depends on the brake, rear brake at speed will only cause it to fishtail, maybe skid a bit, can be epic. Grabbing the front is triggering the trebuchet, a different kind of epic.

In the comic above the right hand is typically the front on motorcycles and bikes. (Some bikes in Europe reverse the layout and have the right brake as the rear, though.)

Yup, with agentic coding models and enough tokens anything that requires “effort” or time can be hit with the AI tsunami until it’s overcome.

Bonus points for the Odessy as a tale told in song until history began. Other works were lost, and the Odessy itself is likely just “the best parts” of the original.

I have. I enjoyed the heck out of it, it’s a retelling definitely intended for modern audiences with some things removed and additional historical context added.

We’re very good at making friends when we try.

Too true unfortunately. I like to champion a local public transport project that beat the timeline and came in under budget.

But when the newspaper doesn’t like the government and wants to stir up controversy they won’t ever discuss all the times it worked perfectly, or try to pretend it didn’t.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing a plan come together though.

Definitely unplayable state for that area without this patch. I’m happy they fixed this one.

Suitably MS is behind a bunch of small models released to hugging face for things like audio transcription and text to speech. Suggests they’re moving to the idea of full local experience, but haven’t really been able to fully materialise it.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re fighting it out internally of having the fully local experience they’re kinda moving to vs the frontier experience using cloud and subscriptions they can change more for.
