Technology•More Americans now support banning phones all day at school, not just in classEnglish
4·21 hours agoYeah the issue with this is that it becomes a major pain to enforce.
Tones of schools have no phone policies but no one enforces it.
Students won’t give them up and parents get upset because they can’t contact little Timmy or because his 1500 iPhone is in someone’s desk.

28·1 day agoIn large organizations when the order comes down from on high that ‘we are all in on whatever’ AI in this case, middle managers and product owners start looking for ways to ram that thing into their product so they can keep playing the game.

A Boring Dystopia•BMW Is Showing Full-Screen Ads on Its Cars' Main Dashboard Control Display
61·1 day agoThis will just be ‘poor’ people BMWs. The 200k M whatever will likely be free of this.
It’s just a last ditch effort to mine what little is left in the middle of the glorious k shaped economy.
Reddit is an old web web site so they are talking about users and advertising so they desperately do not want to talk about the bots because they know a large amount of the content is bots and to try and cull them would make the numbers go down.

I run Arch on my personal machine and Debian on my server and honestly Debian gives me more issues.
It doesn’t like zfs and Nvidia drivers are always a fight. Debian is still good though if all you want to run is a web server forever.

You’re not giving companies a tax break you’re just contributing to their marketing / good will budget. They collect so they ‘can be good cooperate citizens’ and hand someone a giant check and make a press release.

Not The Onion•Welcome to America, where you’re never quite sure if your senator is dead or notEnglish

You’re looking at it too holistically. Rarely does a tech come and entirely replace something outright (despite what the AI hype bros have been saying)
There will be 50 or 100 companies who know the space working on a single thing the nurse does. My suspicion is that nurses do a lot of book keeping and state recording, that is likely what will go first. There might eventually still be someone administering a drug but fewer people doing data entry.
Still health care is notoriously slow and penny pinching so I suspect it will be a while and the only entrants will be big companies who know how to navigate large government or private organizations.
Look if you want me to say it right I’m going to need a very simple tutorial on that upside down R backwards e notation that I don’t understand but they put beside the names on Wikipedia.
I don’t know, once math becomes Greek letters and mathematician names it sort of seems to circle back around.

1·6 days agoActually no, the tattoos don’t really bother me, though they are not to my taste. It’s more that he comes across as manic in his content I think.
Some of them look like bad Dragons which I’m told can be very expensive. A true connoisseur I suspect.

81·7 days agoI’ve seen this guy before on YouTube. While I agree with this vid he always gave me the feeling that his Wikipedia article has a large “controversies” section. Can’t quite put my finger on why though.
