I noticed that they didn’t make any mention of a reputation system. In my opinion integrating a reputation system (similar to what EVE Online has) would be useful for all things party/communication related.

For instance, in EVE Online reputation can be assigned at different levels:

    • NPC Factions
    • NPC Corporations
    • Player Corporations
    • alliances between corporations
    • Your personally assigned reputation to others

So, I can see how my organization/alliance has rated individuals and make informed decisions based on that. This makes it relatively easy to identify which players would be hostile, friendly, or neutral in certain lawless areas.

Although, it could be argued that an org level reputation system would splinter players into territorial groups and make it harder to find random groups to join up with. Maybe that’s a part of what can make EVE Online so toxic compared to other games.

It will help with that for a bit.

However, I imagine that they’ll invent other ways to transfer large amounts of aUEC. For example, once the next exploit is discovered, they could just transfer money by purchasing a large amount of gold, bringing it up on the elevator, then having the buyer send it down and sell it at some trade terminal.

It sounds like CIG has some tools now to monitor player wallets. So, at the very least they should be able to detect when exploits are occurring more quickly.

Once the game goes live, I could see them implementing some sort of temporary emergency economy pause button that would give them time to fix whatever exploit is happening.

It would also be good if CIG had some sort of incentive for players to discover/report exploits in the same way that many tech companies have bounties for security researchers that find vulnerabilities in their system.
