Congrats! I’ve been there. If I can offer advice, it’s easy to overdo it. You’re on the right track, focusing on volume.

Tempo work did well for me - it is self limiting in terms of loading, and you can really focus on form. I liked 3-0-0 squats (3 seconds on the way down, no pause, normal speed on the way up) and 2-0-2 Romanian deadlifts for my recovery.

Have you run the compatibility troubleshooter in win11? It works reasonably well but it’s a laughably stupid process. It asks you which application is having problems, then displays the first ~10 apps, alphabetically. If it’s not there, you have to click a button to see the next 10 apps. Scroll, click, scroll, click, and so on until it shows the app you’re looking for.

Why not just give a full list??? Or let the user start typing and bring up relevant entries? Oh, right. Microslop search functions are embarrassingly bad. Clicking through the list is better, I guess.

I haven’t figured out how do make a script that can delete a directory that needs admin rights. Instead, I created a script that pings the directory once per minute and tosses up a notification if it exists. Then I just go and delete it. It’s good enough for me, since it only happens 2x-3x per week.

Fun story from my win11 work machine. I’ve de-copiloted it to the best of my ability. Even so, ‘ai.exe’ was always running, consuming more RAM than I was comfortable with, and if I killed it, it would respawn.

I found i can delete the folder it resides in with no ill effect. But a few times a week, a process would recreate it.

System owned the parent folder but for some reason I was unable to revoke its write permissions. So instead, I created a junction so that anything written to the ai folder would instead write to a folder that I had sole ownership of.

This worked, except it ended up causing kernel failures and bootloader issues. Big yikes.

I’m sure the exposed surfaces were dry enough in less than an hour. I waited overnight to let moisture in the joints evaporate. No way to tell if it’s actually dry, so it’s just a matter of ‘more is better’.

Can confirm. My router log showed that a neighbor’s iot device was repeatedly trying to connect to my WiFi every 10 seconds or so. It was by far the most dominant event in the log.

The only way to stop it was to block its MAC address.

It’s possible that the installation just required drilling some holes for anchors or something, which is a pretty quick process that doesn’t need much clean up.

Removing probably means holes need to be filled and the surface needs to be refinished. That takes quite a bit more time.

Don’t get me wrong, I want the orange pedophile gone as much as anyone. There’s just a reasonable explanation for why it’s taking longer and they want to keep it from view.

This is a great point. I moved onto a distro that does need more tinkering. But Mint is still, and always will be installed and ready to go. Mostly just because when something goes wrong in my main OS, it’s easier to boot into Mint to fix it, rather than a bootable USB.

Even more annoying is when the green car leaves 2+ car lengths in front of it so the car behind can’t get into the turn lane if they need to.

Nvidia drivers have worked fine for me on Mint, Parrot, and Artix. The only downside is they are pretty bloated and want to be loaded early in the boot process, so it adds several seconds to the initramfs load.

I haven’t tried compiling the image without them, mostly because it’s only a few seconds on boot and I don’t enjoy repairing broken boot images.

Way back when, I loved Windows XP. I was always dorking around with it, seeing what I could do to personalize and customize it. I had that mindset until Windows 11. I just couldn’t anymore.

So I finally tried Linux. It turns out, this is exactly what I wanted back in the XP days. I just never had the need to try it. Now that Microslop has forced my hand, I’ve experienced the environment outside of windows. As such, I really don’t see what they could possibly do to bring me back.

The fact that they are touting this very basic nod of respect to their user base as a major development certainly is telling.

I’m running the same setup. I migrated from Mint. I had just a few headaches, mostly due to some multi-boot configuration confusion. I learned a lot by fixing those and now it’s a solid setup.

I’m loving having a much lighter weight PID1!
