Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•How many of us want cars from our past?
1·1 day agoI’m often reminded of my Geo Tracker and think “I can fix him”. It just wasn’t the right time to have a rusted-out, holey-framed, bad-on-the-highway vehicle with basically neither cargo nor passenger capacity. But there’s something special and forgotten about having a Miata-length vehicle of any kind.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was the best generation of consoles in your opinion?
6·1 day agoThe best years for music are [birthyear + 12] until maaaybe [birthyear + 18] but I’d certainly listen to your points about extending that up to [birthyear + 25] because that’s when [band #5] came from behind and pulled to the lead after [band #2] and [band #4] broke up. Glad to hear you had the same experience
Music certainly does. Probably the main emotional cause, followed by staying out too late while stargazing and getting spooked by casual bumps in the night.
A good scream or a sustained wail will do it. Do you like metal? Lacuna Coil - Sleep Paralysis comes to mind.
I want to clarify that I’m straight up accepting the physiology and, separately, wanted to spread the bat explanation!
10/10 would be tricked, just to see how the wings attach.
General reminder that bats, being mammals, have similar bone layout to other mammals, including humans. The wings are arms, the ribs are fingers. Bats fly by the power of vigorous jazz hands

2·3 days agoNo different than Lady Gaga’s method which I feel took off a little sooner. The pop funds the art. I appreciate Swift’s singing ability, but I enjoy Gaga’s range when she makes her actual music. The theatrics, peaking with the meat suit? Just marketing to make her name the name to invite.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s the most expensive thing you’ve eaten/drank?
2·3 days agoI can’t think of ever buying something very expensive in raw monies, but I did once pay £2 for an olive. An £8 plate for 4 kalamata olives split 4 ways. They were ricotta stuffed and fried. It was exceptionally tasty, but we did not expect such a wild price ratio for an otherwise affordable place.

2·5 days agoAw man. I’m guessing the main thing with DGD from brief reading is Tillian Pearson being a rapist (or just rapey?). I’m not big into DGD but I’m sad to learn the one song in my rotation is one of his. 2013-2024 membership
I’ll tack on that the singer of Highly Suspect (Johnny Stevens) was a low blow to me. I liked his voice and bluesy hard rock sound. I guess he’s not rapey-bad, but seems pretty emotionally abusive to women. I found the group while I was in a sad time and the lyrics felt right, but now, in light of his twitter blowups, the lyrics feel so one-sided. He thinks they’d happily drive each other to suicide, she thinks it was just him. Fucked up part to me, the reveal happened before releasing Champagne At Our Funeral

You seem to think DEI is when employers have to meet a diversity quota, when in reality, it upholds laws stating employers can’t make any hiring decisions based on race or any other such demographic.
