Bought an active 25ft displayport cable for 2K@160 and now I can shove my PC into the closet and forget about it

The jet engine (during BG3) now has a muffler xD (Yes, IK I need to set fan curves)

Well done, I just recently got my hands on a gaming pc, lots of pretty rainbow colours and nice glass case. But like it’s damn massive. And I play on a TV. 25ft hdmi cable and a drill with 1" auger. Straight to the basment in the corner with that gay agenda nonsense /s

Having the whole thing tucked away in a safe space is much better. No spills, no young kids or dog fur no noise. It’s the way to go!.

I wonder what the statistical difference on data corruption is with PCs exposed to radioactive gases and dusts present in basements vs above ground. Probably multiple times higher but still insignificant

Yeaah, not saying that’s impossible but with two left hands and a bit of disability sprinkled in that’s just about what I don’t do myself. So I resort to purchases. And with less space in European cities’ housings (which is - to begin with - the issue with not being able to put the pc a room away) you can also not just put a big wooden box anywhere.

Oh and also even if they kid about this in the beginning: if this does catch on fire the insurance won’t like that at all.

So sadly lots of reasons not to do this.

If however I at one point can put the pc a wall away it would be cables through concrete and pretty silent.

Yep, same. I’ve put the big rig in the basement and am using it from a thin client with Sunshine/Moonlight (although I have been informed, that there are evolutionary implementations of that pair).
