There are versions of these machine learning and statistical programs that are making headway in all sorts of medical research. That was, and is still happening.

I am starting to think that this whole ai push, along with making all these companies insane amounts of money at the cost of regular folks, is ultimately to further attack the human intelligence. The number of people I know personally and secondhand that let chatgpt make all their decisions, even the simplest ones. And they’ll use it as a truth source, treat it like a person (it’s not even anything close to approaching intelligence). It’s going to go poorly for us as a whole.

It’s also wild speculation. People would vanilla-eating-disorder themselves this skinny years before GLP1s came around.

If it were simply directing you to actual sources that could help out (articles, and lawyer authored blogs or something), that would be one thing, but LLMs are just probability machines. It’ll write out what looks like good sound reasoning and logic, but in reality it’s simply the most probable word followed by the next most probable word, over and over again. It’s using pattern matching, not knowledge

Tbh, I think things could have gone the way where I thought the same as OP, and you originally.

I grew up in a conservative religious household, tattoos were literally against in my religion at the time (Mormon 🤮, apparently “permanent” modifications to the body weren’t something that could be corrected when your rotting dead husk gets resurrected later on…). I think if it weren’t for growing up with my brother (4 years older than me) who was the definition of rebellious, including many tattoos, I’d probably be right with op. Most of my brother’s tattoos are stupid. He’s got radiskull and devil doll, most of the doctors from doctor who, if he crosses his fingers there’s two stick figures hugging. But I think most of them are cool. And btw I in no way idolize my brother, I don’t agree with most of his life decisions or how he behaves in general, so that’s not a factor.

Ultimately, I think it’s purely a matter of perspective. I think I’ve seen studies where people who enjoy getting tattoos are more likely to have significant trauma and pain in their lives, and I can imagine those that despise them are probably sheltered or lacking in “real” life experience.

I love this. My 12.5 y/o dog recently passed, and I’m still trying to think of something I can get tattood to appropriately honor him. It will be my first tattoo.

Additionally, my wife and I would love to travel, and I’ve had an idea (independently, but later I learned it’s hardly original), to have a sleeve of some consistent geometric shape, hex, or triangles probably, and find a local artist in each place we go to fill one of the spots with something they determine represents the area.

To be entirely fair, humanity has been doing tattoos and other decorative body modifications since basically forever. Look up “Ötzi the Iceman”, he’s our earliest known example of tattoos, but only 5300 years ago or so, no reason to think that’s the earliest that did it.
