  • You can’t win. There are too many shipping containers, boats, planes, automobiles, an endless stream of commerce with a thousand different points of opportunity.

Every “victory” is Pyrrhic, the tighter you grip the more it will slip out of your fingers. You’re trying to treat a “disease” by controlling only one symptom, not the cause itself.

If you “succeed” in one facet, another will become much worse. For example, the war against opiates is what created the Fentanyl market. Good job, idiots.

Just let it go. Sell it all over the counter and control the quality to reduce overdose. Addicts are better off without you throwing them in dungeons. Leave it alone.

Why does it matter if the responses are from patriotic citizens or not?

“Bad faith” is lunacy, who cares? Arguments matter all on their own, regardless of the motivation for making them.

Of course you “think” they are paid trolls or bots, we all see that constantly. My first post on Reddit years ago was followed immediately by charges of being a Russian spy. Maybe they were a Russian spy and I was diversion?

Anyway, troll, bot, human, paid or not, irrelevant. The discussion is seen by others and judged on the merit of the argument itself. Stop worrying about the source, as you can never know, so it doesn’t matter. It’s not as if you get better results by talking to an unpaid patriotic person. Same shit.

Propaganda problem? Not at all. Every form of social media is rife with propaganda, as is every paper, website, news channel, and so on. How could Lemmy be any different?

  • This is all posturing, in my opinion.

bOtH pArTiEs finance Israel, we built that country for a reason and it’s doing exactly what it was created to do.

Churches aren’t as powerful as they once were, but they’re as rich as ever, and they also funnel billions more into Israel. It’s the nexus of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, so… of course.

… and they don’t pay taxes for some reason, fancy that. So all Americans directly and indirectly support Israel financially at every level.

Democratic leadership knows this just as well as Republican, and it’s not as if you have an alternative. Every vote is pro-Israel, whether you like it or not. It’s a lot more pervasive than many realize.

I’m not advocating not voting, I still vote. But it’s all pro-Israel. Seventy years of this, it’s undeniable.

But all humans are destroying* the planet, whether Amazonians or Africans or billionaires.

Every one of those people require land for agriculture or hunting, all of them use natural resources and will until they are expended, all of them have children that exponentially increase the demand on everything we all need (or want).

Billionaires are much more harmful than many thousands and more, it is true… but examples are legion of regular old proles destroying the environment around them once their population reaches a certain level (this varies depending on the local environment).

The simpler/more primitive the society, the less stressors they put on the environment, but they remain stressors regardless.

*By destroy I mean to make it inhospitable for people as we know them, planet will be fine long after we are all gone.
