I use friendslop semi ironically. It describes pretty well the type of games that are only meant to be played with friends (not alone, not with strangers), that I apparently love, and it sounds funny

“hon” is a 4chan slur for trans women (who in their view don’t “pass’”), mocking how we use “hon(ey)” as a pet name for women.

Sneed is an ellision of “special needs”

I’m sure you can guess the connotation of “gorilla” in this context

4chan is still calling people hons? That’s so old fashioned of them

And that’s not where hon comes from exactly. It’s from young trans women making fun of an older trans forum where a lot of the older (and often less passing) women called each other “hon” a lot because it was a common thing for silent gen and baby boomer women to do. Real shitbag behavior, but young people often suck in such ways

I genuinely had no idea what the fuck those meant. I thought saying hon was just a condescending feminine pejorative for fools. Like you’re talking to a kid. Very cool on my part to ignorantly blast a bunch of people with dysphoria

Ohhhh wait that makes sense because they say sneed when they use the Lawnmower Man wojak. Who in the movie is a special needs person who gets uploaded into a computer a supergenius. I hate this etymology so much. Impressive.

“Friendslop” seems to be the only “slop” used in a positive manner.

It is often used in a very negative manner, tbh. I never see anyone call something friendslop in ‘the good way’. Personally hate the word

I use it mixed. To me, it means the game doesn’t have any value alone, and doesn’t have any value with a group of introverts, for example. You MUST play with the right group for it to work.

Similarly, streamerslop is just a game that is only good for streamers to use as platforms. It often is also friendslop, but not always.

So, friendslop is negative, but not extremely so. It’s just describing what type of game ît is, like “party music” or “pop music”

The game Peak, for example is GOOD friendslop. It’s an actual game with replayability and a ladder of still to be learned, and doesn’t rely on social antics to be fun and challenging.

Streamerslop can be single player, is the main difference.
