Do the democrats have something to run on? I agree on voting blue across the board but you can’t really pretend that there’s been anything inspiring coming out of the DNC in the past few years. Their entire platform is reduced to “we’re not Trump” and that’s hardly an inspiring message
The appeal of the Dems is the twenty or so socialists. That’s it.
Indeed and the DNC bend over backwards to make sure they get as little visibility as possible. Instead of learning from the success of “socialist” candidates - which really are barely left of center by European norms - they persist in trying to chase this mythical idea of the American centrist… So instead of trying to appeal to the left with actual policy, they try to pander to moderate republicans
It would be pretty easy to run on: pulling out of the war with Iran (obviously they need to agree, but I bet they’d be a lot more amenable if we stopped all attacks and removed a lot of military personnel/property in the neighborhood); dismantling ICE/CBP/the concentration camps and holding former officers fully responsible for their conduct; cutting tariffs; and funding the hell out of food stamps and healthcare as a start.
They’d just have to want to do all that, which might be the rub.
Edit: I don’t know how I forgot about fully cutting funding to Israel, with the exception of humanitarian aid to the victims of the Israeli government and settler violence. That’s even lower on their agenda, but it would be the right thing to do, both politically and morally.
I can’t wait until the blue wave in November to see how the Democrats do exactly nothing like they always do.

I think the more likely scenario is they win a congressional majority and still do almost everything Donald wants, but it’s possible that maybe 10-20 socialists get elected, and if they do, they can create a lot of problems for the billionaires and Donald.
I legit hate Jeffries at this point. He himself has failed all of us in a myriad of ways, but that said, he’s right.
Donald is pulling a Biden/Harris and trying to gaslight us into forgetting that we can’t go into a grocery store and actually buy anything anymore, or that our rent bills have doubled and tripled nationwide with no response from his administration, or if we go to a doctor we are legitimately risking bankruptcy. It’s been almost two years. Republicans own these problems now, and by giving Donald a blank check, they’ve chosen to make life harder for all of us.
When your choices as a president make life unlivable, you can’t lie your way out of it. The rest of us do our own shopping, mind our own kids, and pay our own bills, unlike the multi-millionaire, insider trading assholes that make up this government.
They have fear and hate, which is enough for quite a few people.

Donald is more unpopular than Jimmy Carter right now, which puts him among the most despised presidents in the nation’s history. His candidates have lost nearly every race in 2025 and 2026, not counting primaries. And those election wins have come in districts he won by double digits in 2024, regardless of whether it’s a red or blue state.
I don’t think fear and hate are enough this time. That’ll happen when you’re living out of your car and can’t buy enough to eat at a grocery store.
They have everything they have always run on. Idiocy.
When 99% of the voters generally vote Democrat or Republican no matter what, that’s unfortunately the way it is. I am encouraged that we might get a couple dozen socialists elected though. Real change is sorely needed, and it’s encouraging that we as a people are (finally) finding the end of our patience with both ruling parties treating us like shit.
I don’t think real change is possible without the republicans going completely under. They have abandoned all principle and even pretense at principles. If they ever do we will quickly see a spike in third parties and likely a split with democrats. As long as you have this completely crazy pants party winning elections its going to be a defensive game for many.
Be careful. Canada had a right wing party that went to zero in the late 80s. This led to way too much power for the other party for over a decade, then the party got co-opted by hard core religious right wingers very cosy with the US. Even in 2025, their leader was a US citizen.
im not saying conservatives have to go away. They just need to find themselves and do a new shingle. I realize they will not go away which is why I would expect a rise to third parties and a split with democrats given many democrats are right of actual center.
