  • Yeah, Destiny 2 pretty much lived in the core gameplay loop. To this day I don’t think there’s another game that felt as good to play as Destiny. But without refreshing the core gameplay or giving some actually meaningful progression. I remember at one point I was doing a strike and those who have played the game will know what I’m about to talk about. After clearing the second wave of enemies and waiting for the third I realized that I was just going through the motion of threes. I was going to fight the third wave of the encounter so I could get to the second stage of the three stage strike and those strikes I have to do 3 times because that’s the weekly goal and that’s the entire 3 months of the season. It just started feeling like a treadmill where I’m running just for the sake of running. Just a carrot in front of the treadmill and if you get it then the next season the treadmill resets and the and carrot is put in front.

Once I saw that I could no longer get into Destiny. It just feel like I was there only to go through the motions. No emotion, no engagement, just doing the same thing over and over.

  • Wow.

You gaslit me to make a point about how stoking outrage has become the point…

Yeah, fair enough, I guess you have a point then and you have been sincere the whole time. Now I’m regretting not keeping in that the only way you could be sincere is if you’re a sincere asshole, because turns out that’s exactly the kind of sincere you are. Because I did write that at one point and then I deleted it before posting because I thought “surely they’re not that big of a piece of shit so out of respect for them I shouldn’t insinuate that’s what they are”.

Turns out I was wrong. That’s exactly who you are. In hindsight it makes perfect sense. No wonder you wouldn’t empathize with how the community even reached this point. It also explains why you’d turn into such a troll when others get annoyed by you. It even explains why you’re somehow empathizing with the tesseract dev, because you’re cut from the same cloth.

So yeah, I’ve been convinced you are sincere and have given it consideration. I’ve also been convinced there is no persuading you to believe otherwise because those beliefs come from the core of who you are. To be open to change your opinion on that matter would be to be open to change as a person and I seriously doubt you’re open to that. I don’t even know where to go from here. I’ve never reached an end of the discussion feeling like this is someone I never want to interact again. But there has been an upside to this as well. I couldn’t understand why people would parade being on that banlist, because in the end it’s just a banlist someone put together. However after this discussion I understand why so I’ll peace out with that little nugget of truth because that’s about the only useful takeaway from this whole thing.

  • Don’t you find that to be dismissive? I mean if we’re already deciding for the people who valid their feelings are we could also say the response hasn’t been that harsh because it’s only harassment, it’s not like there’s been an actual murder attempt on the developer. Maybe the developer should also stop being melodramatic?

Or you know, maybe have some empathy and understand that different people can have different emotional reactions to the same thing. I can understand where you’re coming from because I don’t really care either. I think the developer already got told they’re an asshole for doing what they did and for me that’s that. But I also understand not everyone is as unbothered as I am. Some are going to react more strongly and the developer has given them multiple reasons to react that strongly, to the point where the developer has stoked that fire to get an even bigger response. Of course there’s a limit to the reaction, for example death threats and such are a step too far and those shouldn’t be condoned, but I’m not going to act like I know better how someone else should feel about this situation. In the end we’re emotional beings not soulless husks so let people process their emotions.

  • The current reactions you’re seeing aren’t just about the software, it’s also about the person.

This very meme is about that person doubling down on their misguided belief that they have the right to dictate who is allowed to be visible on the fediverse. Then there’s attempts to twist the narrative by claiming the knowledge of this list was always public (in case it needs to said, a block list deliberately omitted from the git and having the code inject it later from a completely different source means deliberate steps were taken to try and hide the existence of the list). And finally there’s also the directed attack to ddos the instance that discovered this list, where the attack vector are unknowing users who read his manifesto on his site.

If we were to just look at the malicious use of the software then yeah, you could make an argument it’s been taken too far. But when you factor in the god complex and continued retaliation by the developer I don’t think we’re at a point where people are overreacting.

There is a reason why Dyson spheres are science fiction. That reason is not “there’s not enough water to boil”. If we were to somehow have the technological capacity to build a Dyson sphere it would most likely use some direct light to energy solution, something like photovoltaics. Or if it did need to go light -> heat -> electricity it wouldn’t be using water, it would be using noble gases.

This is the dumbest shit I’ve read all week. The bourgeoisie already had their game locked down. That’s why they wanted Cuomo and after Mamdani beat him once the bourgeoisie still backed Cuomo in hopes of the second time going differently.

The bourgeoisie didn’t need Mamdani to get what they want. Of they wanted to use Mamdani as an example that left populist policies don’t work then Mamdani shouldn’t be winning this much. If Mamdani does X and then in the future becomes Y then nobody is going to think socialism is a failure, they’re going to view Mamdani as a traitor the same way they view Fetterman as a traitor.

You have to sniff some heavy duty conspiracy glue to believe Mamdani is some kind of a capitalist plant. It’s far more likely you’ve been radicalized to a point where anything less than a full blown revolution is not a step in the right direction. That’s not healthy.
