It’s part of a growing pushback to the climate hushing phenomenon, spearheaded by longtime climate advocate Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, a Democrat from Rhode Island, and a collection of experts studying political science and public opinion. “This is a sort of a sign of where the conversation has moved, in that you do have this really robust effort to attempt to highlight that climate change is something that Democrats should continue to be talking about in a big way,” said Tré Easton, vice president for public affairs at Searchlight Institute, a Democratic-aligned think tank.
“We don’t stand for anything, but republicans are terrible” has been a losing strategy every single time it’s been deployed.
The public is heavily slanted in favor of democrats, but Trump has made it crystal clear that he’s going to cheat. A Democratic win requires an undeniable landslide. Ignoring real problems will not generate the transformational turnout needed to overcome blatant election fraud.
The problem is that the mainstream Democrats do stand for something - corporations. And that’s why they never get enough people out to vote.

Expecting the Democrats to do anything that helps us is a fool’s errand. Can’t wait for them to write a strongly-worded letter when Trump inevitably tries to take a third term.
The problem is that they can’t just talk about climate problems they need to take action. And since the Democratic party isn’t going to support mass-executions of industry executives and billionaires, they’d have to talk about incremental changes. I’m not sure how they sell something like “we forecast that these new regulations will result in a 1 degree average temperature reduction over the next 4 years” (which would be huge). And that’s imagining that the party as a whole is able to agree on something hard enough to shove it past the Republicans.
We aren’t going to just talk about it now ok!?
