    This is no surprise to anyone in the community. Practically every trans person I know has wanted to move to NYC, Chicago, or Seattle for at least a year or so. Smaller blue cities have been getting better reputations for trans people in the last few months.

    My partner and I plan to visit Chicago and then decide between moving there or to Minneapolis.

    I’d say that this actually illustrates one of the strengths of the American system. In a context of bitter partisan division, the delegation of authority to individual states prevents an all-or-nothing national outcome and gives people places to go where the government is aligned with their needs and their values. Obviously relocating is expensive and disruptive, but the most powerful right a citizen can have is his exit right.

    1. Definitely persecuting minorities, but Ethnic implies generational heritage, no?

    2. Kind of a weird assumption that we don’t refer to it as an ethnic cleansing in the USA. I’ve seen people call it an attempted genocide.
