Maybe not so much a meme It just shows a) how manipulative and corrupt the current US regime is, and b) how fucking stupid they are at the same time.
Did they really think Iran would go for this shit?
They really need date stamps on these. Is this right now?
Understandable. Why would you negotiate with someone while he openly shows such disrespect? If he wants that war to end, he should probably show some humility.
You have got to be kidding me.
…its not even Tuesday.
How could you possibly describe American policy/diplomacy re this war as anything other than schizophrenic?
It is literally incoherent.
Iran has been very clear: We are done talking to you, because you are duplicitious, perfidious negotiators, whose words mean nothing.
If the US wants this to end, step 1 is leave.
They’ve directly said this, multiple times.
A good start would maybe be, I dunno, get every ship at least 250 nm away from any Iranian territorial waters.
Trump is apparently actually too stupid or demented or too much of a rapist to understand that… words mean nothing now, they’re not listening, you’ve been cut off.
He apparently cannot comprehend the concept of being actually ignored, ghosted, not listened to.
It’s very worrying. Your read on it feels correct. My biggest prayer right now is that Trump dies off before dropping a nuke.
He’s exactly the type to do it, and it’s normally such a non-sequitur as to be impossible that the US would do that (again). But practically everything the US has been doing is blankly absurd.
If the US can just lose this unwinnable war without ending the world as we know it, that would be great.
I have been saying for over a year now that Trump literally needs to die, somehow, otherwise … tens of millions of people are going to die, entirely avoidably, accomplishing nothing.
I genuienly cannot understand how anyone could look at this situation, and come away with any conclusion other than this man must die.
I was terrified during the… preview bout, or whatever, that’d we’d used a nuclear bunker buster to attack Natanz and/or other sites… because they’re built under fucking mountains, and the best you can do is fuck up the entrances or maybe specific tunnel sections, with conventional weapons.
Trump and his entire cabinet… they’re post-modern in the sense of ‘no, my reality is the reality, everyone else is lying/crazy/hoaxing.’ You could also just call this ‘completely fucking delusional’.
I told people, when he got elected… that I was premptively so immensely sorry, for what was about to happen.
Of course I didn’t predict every beat of it… but I knew he would have a team of true believers this time, and nothing to effectively hold him back. Our current governmental structure has too many exploitable loop holes and gray areas… and he is fine with just blatantly violating things everyone agrees are blatant violations.
Our government, for my entire life, has operated in a paradigm where Congress doesn’t actually declare war, as… the entire system was originally built around. Instead, the President effectively does, and Congress just tells him to stop, after some time.
And now he just isn’t listening to that.
He literally believes he can do whatever he wants. To use Tom Clancy language, he is the most clear and present danger to… the US, the entire world, that has ever existed in US history.
He simply must die, for the future of humanity.
I despise JD Vance, but he’s at least rational and somewhat competent… probably would not intentionally destroy the world, as our dying demented narcissist pedophile in chief seems to be intent on.
I agree with you on everything there, except for the hopeful idea that Vance would be better. Things would be the same or worse, but the vibes would be more normal.
Trump believes that Trump is important and good. That may be the only thing he believes, but it is a belief. Vance has all the ambition of Trump, but literally no ego or beliefs. He is happy to eat shit and take flak for this regime just for the chance to grab at more power.
The presidency is not a person, it’s a system. Everything you don’t like about any given US president is going to be at least 70% true for every one that comes after. Obama too was terrible on immigration and wanton violence abroad. It comes with the job.
Frankly, it doesn’t matter, because there is no other option.
If Trump dies or is actually removed from office, we get an unscrupulous and twofaced asshole in JD but at least he is not actively trying to destroy the world.
Yes, he would be shitty. Immensely so.
Not as shitty as Trump doing things that fairly directly threaten the lives of hundreds of millions of people, based on delusions.
I can handle a clever lying asshole as President for ~2 years. It is at least possible to imagine a future from there where the US government can be restabilized, where people can make their voices heard, struggle for a better world.
I cannot handle this idiot buffoon actively trying to destroy the world. It is not possible to imagine a world where he lives another two years, and tens of millions of people do not die, billions made poorer, injured.
I cannot abide the chance of obliterating modern civilization, all of us in it… in the pursuit of ideological purity.
Anything is better than oblivion.
It can happen.
There is no immutable rule of reality that says ‘but humans will always exist more or less as they have.’
That is hubris, it is folly, it is normalcy bias.
Us existing and having this civilization is an anomaly!
We have the means to destroy ourselves, and he is disgusting enough to push us past a point of no return, where everything that follows afterward would be deemed as essentially inevitable, should historians even exist to later comment on it!
Our collective human history could be undone forever, our progress set back centuries, perhaps millenia, by the insanity of this man.
I cannot abide that chance, I cannot agree with it, cannot condone it.
I’d never say anyone is wrong to feel that way, it’s true. If I could pick which cards we’re dealt from this point onwards, I’d guess our best hope is that he gets stabbed by a cabinet member asap and then Vance has to preside over a massive defeat in Iran that somehow doesn’t result in world war 3, and then all these bozos have to scuttle their totalitarian aims. I dunno. It’s wild to me that anyone in the pentagon even does what Trump says, his orders are all illegal. For a while I was hoping for a military coup and a forced reset of every branch of government. It doesn’t seem likely.
Double post but:
I do find it ironic that I describe myself as an anarchist, but do not wish for a sudden, unmanaged collase of currently existing states.
That… that is madness, that way lies an unimaginable amount of lack, barbarism, and cruelty.
I am not an accelerationist… because I know enough about human history to know that… a sudden and violent reset or breaking of ultimately, logistics networks… nearly always leads to famine, warlords, atrocities.
Sadly… human societies seem to tend to build themselves up to, and then ultimately beyond an actually mantainable level of complexity.
We grow and collapse in fits, starts and stumbles… not a clean upward trend.
But this time… never has more been at stake. Never have a relative few had the near direct ability to destroy so many, and so much.
… I am human, and I cannot help but to feel, in some way, the pain and suffering of others. I cannot help but to be passionate, to try to limit, and avoid that, if not in my own actions, at least in my thoughts about what should be or should not be done.
I so badly hope that somehow, we can actually learn from our histories, instead of succumbing to our baser instincts, and destroying ourselves.
We can be better than we currently are.
That, that is the only ‘delusion’ I am willing to entertain.
Can I be an atheist in this foxhole with you? I feel that tension too, between the world I wish to create and the fact that there’s seemingly an insurmountable friction between where we are and where that would be. It can feel like it would be too violent a change to achieve in one lifetime. I keep coming back to the idea that war is ultimately a failure of imagination. We failed to envision a path forward where everyone can live. That’s war.
And there’s tension between my personal pacifism and my imagination with regards to societal change. Maybe like socialism, pacifism has to be an ideal rather than a standard, a Zeno’s paradox in ideological terms. Perfection being the enemy of good, maybe some people need killing.
Pacifism is the goal, just as much as anarchism and socialism. We live in an imperfect world, though. For my part, knowing you struggle and lament, I can’t help but forgive your imperfections. We love a Luigi, but we have to remember that he too is a symptom - not a hero.
I am glad that you can see how I see it.
Yes, I agree, JD residing over the official start of an orderly, managed decline of the US… is essentially the best outcome possible, given the current stakes of a wildly unmanaged … potentially world destroying hissy fit.
And yes, I fully agree that … any system that allows to happen what is currently happening… is deeply fundamentally flawed. At the very least… we need to reconsider basically everything, about our society, our government, their structure, our relation to to both.
We need a fuck-ass huge reality check… that would be much preferable to simply lighting the planet on fire.
As to why the Pentagon complies?
It was purged, before this began. Not as bloody as Stalin’s purges, but perhaps comparably nearly half (?) as extensive, and certainly as crippling, in terms of removing competent officers and generals.
Trump and Elon combined have basically done this with every single actual aministrative agency of the Federal Government. Only loyalists, and those able to sufficiently pretend to be, remain in most of those kinds of positions.
The people who would have refused illegal orders were either purged, or resigned in protest.
We… do not really have much of a recent history of our military facing actual internal threats, from within factions of the government, threatening to destabalize the entire country itself, decohere the concept of what the country even is.
So… at least far as I know… we probably don’t have too many people left willing to be court martialed for disobeying a direct order… as the military justice system is … a lot more harsh than the civillian justice system, when it wants to be.
A good start would maybe be, I dunno, get every ship at least 250 nm away from any Iranian territorial waters.
They’re already 600nm away from Iran because getting closer gets them sunk.
If the US wants this to end, step 1 is leave.
This has always been the end path. Victory was declared on day 3. If US purpose is to serve Israel, then repressing Iran to the last American $ is policy that is lost if US leaves and ends the war. It’s not that Trump is demented about his impotence, it’s that smacking the wet noodle at Iran until complete humiliation is the path US establishment insists on for its master.
Is it possible the US wants to leave but Israel insists it goes on
for the americans, 250 nanometers is 9.843e-6 inches
The nautical mile has gotten smaller than I thought.
Did they really think
Found the problem.
They’re not meant to, that way we can keep bombing them for no reason.
