Florida evangelist Whitney Lynn uses most of her flights as an opportunity to share her faith, a trend that was featured in a recent Washington Post article. On Thursday, she said, her sermon got her kicked off a San Diego-bound jet before it even took off from Orlando International Airport. She documented the removal in a series of videos she posted on social media, one of which had racked up 3 million views on Instagram by Friday afternoon.
Thank God.
Er… Wait
Good, now do the same to people who use speakerphone on transit
kicked off a San Diego-bound jet before it even took off

If this had ben a Muslim standing up and preaching loudly on an airplane the MAGAts on the flight would have lost their minds.
Fox would air this non-stop as a 'terrorist" pushing thier religion on people. since they are usually a attractive white woman.
Funny how only after theres negative press they start to do something about it.
because they totally care about the passengers, and its totally not about wanting to be associated with the negative press coverage.
Read “evangelist” as “disruptive passenger”. This is “spiritual warfare” about as much as black trash bags are racism.
Why the bags gotta be black, man?
;-}
Whitney is another a la carte Christian grifter.
Matthew 6:1 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven."
Yeah but it’s Matt. 5:10 that they’re all about, “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Except they’re not actually persecuted, they’re in a Christian-majority country ruled by an overtly Christian government, so they have to manufacture their own persecution in order to trick God into letting them into heaven.
Exodus 21:20-21 “Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, 21 but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property.’
Is that one en your carte?
Weird menu you’ve got there. Err no, bad. The word isn’t “weird” it’s “bad”.
I think you misunderstood that post. They were using a phrase from the bible which highlights the hypocrisy of the talibangelist and how they selectively choose which bible verses to believe in.
Yeah and I listed another verse that everyone seems to love to ignore
Alaska, Hawaiian, and Horizon are all affiliated, so essentially one company has said “not on our aircraft.” Good for them.
This will do wonders with their persecution complex. Still worth it though.
God botherers are the worst humans.
Call out their heresy as loud as they shout it. Remind them that they’re acting this way because they were lied to so they would sell their soul.
Then put on a red hat and robe because nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!
Nice, now she can pray herself to destination, surely a minor task for the creator of all things.
God forgot the admin password that’s why he hasn’t been around for a while.
I hope the passengers shown in her videos sue her for breach of privacy. Because you can very safely assume she did not get anyone’s permission to be filmed and used for her personal and probably commercial gain.
She has that influencer face on.
Matthew 6:5
New International Version“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others."
Don’t forget women are supposed to stay silent. So she shut her fucking mouth.
This lady was yelling her opinions to a captive audience
I remember a sermon about that from my catholic upbringing. I remeber very few thing from my childhood, but that stuck with me. I think because there we were in church being seen by others and being told we should be at home. The logical gymnastics of these people are impressive in a way.
In all fairness the verse doesn’t mean “don’t go to church.” It’s talking about people who worship in public for the sake of being seen. Like this woman or people who only go to church so they can say they went and keep up appearances in the community. There are plenty of verses that require mental gymnastics and this isn’t really one of them.
It’s talking about Performative Christianity, which is what this person is ALL about.
In all fairness the verse doesn’t mean “______” It’s talking about _______.
And this is why Christianity has like 47,000 different sects and counting.
But no I’m sure random Christian Lemmy user #16 is the person with the perfect understanding of his holy book.
It’s really not that complex. Probably one of the simplest verses to understand. And I’m not a Christian.
Said every Christian about every bit of theology ever
You both have a good point.
or the ones on tv preaching for cash
That is how they interpret it. But think about it. Church is public. During covid, church moved online. And that was fine. But why did it go back to in person. To be seen. And why is there a weekly mass at all. To be seen. Jesus never said people should go to church every week. That whole thing is an addon created but the mortals who wanted to be seen in their fancy robes and such. The whole thing is a mockery of Jesus’s teachings.
That whole thing is an addon created but the mortals who wanted to be seen in their fancy robes and such.
Doesn’t this apply to all of Christianity? Religion was made to control people and that’s easier to do in person.
I was trying to be kind. But while religion itself spawned from people attempting to cope with the inability to control the things (like nature) that could determine if they lived or died, at some point it converted over to a way to control the populace.
