This is a bed.
I turned kitty’s bed - that she slept in as a kitten, but then spent about 5 years refusing to acknowledge - back into a bed by putting an electric heating mat under it. Hey presto, it’s back in favour!
I wonder how much more likely pets would be to adopt their new beds if their owners sat in them for a day before giving it to them.
They definitely would, but might have to sit in them for longer. Cats just like their owners and want to be in places that smell like us. Or if there’s sunshine, that will help too.
Me: this is my most beloved and prized bath towel. I will now roll it up in the shape of a cat bed.
Cat: this is my new bed
Me: FOOL! Now that you have claimed this as your new cat bed, I finally have permission from MYSELF to order a new, much more luxurious and plush bath towel! MWA ha ha ha!
Cat: I do not speak your silly human language. Do whatever you want. I certainly do.

I got a load of clothes out of the dryer and started folding them. One of our cats showed up about 30 seconds later and curled up on top of the clothes. Bed.
