Of course he’s exasperated - he has dementia. He lacks the cognition to be anything but exasperated. No way he has the capacity to understand the situation.
Gentle nerd freak of the pacific northwest. All nation states are vermin.

Chilli, curries et al become more flavourful with time. Days later reheated chilli still beats days later cold chilli, even if days later cold chilli beats immediate warm chilli.
Warm food just is more flavourful. Fridge chocolate is objectively less flavourful than room temperature chocolate, for example.
I’m pretty sure the ship’s planks had to be replaced because it was on display as a heritage item for generations afterwards - not during his lifetime. Are you really viewing theseus’ ship if everything you’re looking at post-dates his death, was the issue, iirc.
Just to get unneccesarily pedantic about a joke.
It’s a pretty common welsh name, so australia and the UK have plenty of bryns.
That ‘y’ is a dead giveaway that it’s welsh. Llewellyn is another one. The welsh for wales is cymru - “kimree”.
In high school there was this one guy, Bryn, who i didn’t like but he hung out with us and prevented other bullies from targeting our goth weirdo circle. I’ve always described jupiter as earth’s bryn.

why anyone would otherwise choose to drink it.
Mix in powdered magic mushrooms. Works like lemontek to make the trip shorter and more intense, and masks the difficult-to-get-down flavour.

My mother: My best friend Ruthy was the sort of person who thought a best friend was someone who gives you their last tab of speed during exams. My best friend in highschool, hearing this: So you had speed in highschool? My mother: oh ugh um ahh well.
My mother also advised us that if we thought a bar was watering down drinks we should order black russians because vodka is more alcoholic but kahlua is more expensive. Also never buy white rum because you might as be drinking vodka - this was meant as an insult to both vodka and white rum.

Show me the profit
not nearly as useful as anyone says it is, if at all.
It’s not about profit, it’s about control.
Yes, for many users ai is just an inaccurate summary generator. Or if your job involves creating pointless bullshit reports (as most do) you can save some time - big fucking deal, for sure.
But as a tool of power and control they are brutally useful. Llms can replace the search engine and the site - google, wikipedia and reddit controlled by the same gatekeeper. Want information disappeared? Way easier.
They’re also the best way elites have to weaponize vast resources in the information age. Being able to instantly create and automate thousands of fake social media accounts to argue down your opponents is now a power the rich have - they don’t have to buy those shills and keep them happy and active the old fashioned way.
Saying llms are not useful is like telling a lord their castle is a waste of stone and labour. It’s literally power, and they know it.

Power. Men are more privileged than women. The more power somehow has, the more they are shielded from the consequences of their actions and the worse their behaviour.
I do suspect that overall men are alsi more likely to engage in violence than women, but i haven’t checked data to see if i’m wrong.

A friend of mine introduced herself to someone who then looked so devasted, that it caused her to realize how they must know each other: “We already know each other.” “Do we?” “Yes!” “Oh… you mean in the biblical sense?” “Yes.”
I love this kind of law because it’s likely impossible for ai companies to comply.
Could be there’ll be some exemptions if the user employs workarounds, because at the moment it’s pretty easy to get llms to tell you things they aren’t supposed to.
But if the laws are written right with actual penalties that may force the companies to create a product that’s capable of having safety parameters - something llms don’t currently seem capable of.
abstaining is objectively the dumbest fucking position anyone could ever take
One of the other positions is pro rape, pro concentration camps and pro explosive diarrhea.

Tabletop rpgs are the only artform that merges artist and audience. Telling a story is probably the oldest human artform. With a well-designed RPG and a good group you can tell a story and thrill yourself at the surprising outcome. It’s a unique and timeless hobby.

The ability to question someone who was a trafficker in the trump epstein pedophilia ring was lost.
This is such an elegant observation.
Fahrenheit is demonstrably better for describing temperature as experienced by a human.
It’s just not though. F uses a wider range of numbers to describe common outside air temperature, but more numbers =/= better.
I’ve lived in both F and C countries and farenheit is not easier, more intuitive, more sensible or better in any way. A number is a number. The extra precision of F is not super useful - no one can really feel a 1F difference. The freezing point of water does make a huge difference, so knowing above/below zero C is useful, but above/below 32F is no harder.
This argument that F is somehow more suitable for human temperatures is something you see online, but as someone comfortable with both i can say there is functionally no difference, except that metric is compatible with the rest of the world.

Bill Maher’s Twain Prize
Umm what? I thought you had to be funny to get that prize? Is the prize itself satire? Maher is just some decrepit asshole who occasionally has cameras pointed at him.
Start offering them US health insurance?
