I didn't—I like to pick up old second-hand laptops that are selling for cheap and tinker with them (install different OSes, coreboot them, etc). One of the machines I regularly use is OpenBSD, but it's not my sole OS. My gaming machine is Linux—afaik you're gonna have a tough time trying to play AAA games on any other (FOSS) OS, but I've not tried, because the laptop I run OpenBSD on is an old underpowered Thinkpad anyway.

That stew does sound rather plain. I'd add stuff like leeks and also just more vegetables of your choosing. A mirepoix, spinach, kale, peas, whatever vegetables you like. I'd also add some stock cubes. I don't think ground meat makes very good stock, so it would benefit from stock cubes/powder. It's just cheaper to bulk things out with vegetables and carbs.

As for making you feel full for longer, generally fat makes you feel full for longer, so you could try getting ground meat with higher % fat (sticking to your ingredients) or just adding maybe some olive oil or butter to the stew. It is extra calories which I guess might make you gain weight, but calories are energy and excess energy becomes fat (stored energy), so your two stated goals of not gaining weight and having enough energy are at odds—not irreconcilable, but it'd be a balancing act.

As an OpenBSD user I find it funny how they list OpenBSD as 0%. Like, they could've just omitted it.

Have you tried disabling the AI in Zed? There's a toggle in the settings to disable all AI features. I've disabled the AI and it's actually a really nice, responsive, clean editor. Just one toggle, and it doesn't re-enable itself. The whole "AI-native" marketing really put me off trying it, but it's now become my go-to IDE for when I'm working on a project where I want a more fully-featured IDE than Vim (my go-to for just editing text files eg standalone scripts, small projects).

If you don't want to do that, or if you try it and still don't like Zed, maybe Kate?

The base game is free now so you don't need to pirate it anymore, but they put like half the basic functionality behind expensive DLCs. It's an ok game if you like life sim. Maybe pirate the whole game ie with all the DLCs so you're not missing out on basic features like seasons or pets.

Just manually read the diffs for your yay -Syu. They were adding lines to the PKGBUILDs to pull malware. Verify what each line does and you'll be fine.

Hacker's Keyboard does still work on modern Android, but is abandoned and looks rather dated.

Open source benefits big tech too. Eg see all the huge corpos who donate to the Linux Foundation, because Linux is necessary to their work. Google gets good PR from summer of code, and students will be recommending summer of code to each other. It gives Google a good amount of cultural capital among engineers. It's not like Google has no cash to spare for a couple projects to make them look good and secure their role as one of the most dominant tech companies across the field.

Never played BG3 or D&D so can't compare it. I liked the DOS2 combat system though!

I think Divinity: Original Sin 2 didn't have any parts that required a keyboard, and the combat is turn-based so it's fairly accessible. Great game as well if your gf likes CRPGs.

Until they release what the books are, it doesn't say anything about the suspect's beliefs. I'm sure plenty of people have some literature by a communist because a lot of classic or influential lit was penned by a communist. If you've got a bookshelf full of obscure Verso books then sure, probably a lefty, but a few classic books that happen to be by communists doesn't say anything lol.

I think if you're at the point of poweruser where you're deciding an init system, you probably should just try them out in VMs. It doesn't have to take loads of time. Install an OS, try writing some basic services, try doing some basic config for your use-case.

For the vast majority of users, they'll never have this problem, because they'll just use whatever init system comes with their OS. I know some distros give init freedom, but most are locked in to one or another init. The fact that you have this problem suggests that either you're using the wrong distro and should switch to one that chooses for you (or just pick based on one-line descriptions), or it'd be worth your time to spend a day or two poking around with the init systems under consideration in VMs.

You can just try them out in a VM if you're interested. Systemd can become quite a deep rabbit hole, but most of the others are quite simple and best learnt by doing.

I think you're extrapolating a very specific trans stereotype onto trans people as a whole.

There's a lot of people in the world. If they offer international shipping, I'm sure whatever company you're thinking of has a sufficient customer base.

They're using the acronym because it's targeting a political identity. They'd be targeting asexuals who go to pride parades or do advocacy or whatever. They're not going to chuck you in prison for not meeting your sex quota.

It's not as simple as just wiping out the global south and working class—the global north ruling class is only able to better survive climate change because of the labour of the global south and the working class. When climate change leads to a collapse in population and labour in the global south, it will seriously impact the people living in their air conditioned bunkers. The nature of being a parasite means you need a host to leech off of, and that's us. They can't live without us.

And I don't believe climate change is going to literally eliminate every single person among these demographics. Some people in soon-to-be-uninhabitable countries will be able to leave and seek climate asylum elsewhere. There's also permanent human life in every continent except Antarctica; there will still be some small communities clinging on in parts of the world largely departed, because humans can adapt to such a wide range of climates. There's going to be a huge societal collapse and restructuring of society, but not extinction.

It is completely unrealistic to expect humans not to be greedy, or to subscribe to left leaning philosophies of human love, human rights, the right to a home or distribution of wealth. In the end we all are monkeys, more now than ever, given how the far right has become so mainstream. It is simply what people want.

"Human nature" is not transhistorical or actual nature. Our material interests change based on the mode of production we live in. We live according to the logic of capitalism because we live within capitalism. Climate change will lead to at least a fundamental change in capitalism, if not its collapse, which will also change humans themselves and our behaviours. Capitalism atomises us so that the economic subject is the individual, but in another mode of production such as communism, the economic base of society would be different such that the economic subject is not the individual. Humans aren't inherently greedy, nor are they inherently altruistic.
