If it's running a shitty AI filter, won't the end result be very inconsistent? So aside from it erasing the actual artist's work and the creative direction, it won't even be coherent slop. And it'd be the ruin of character creation tools in games.

    Gives me

    Show

    Vibes.

Seeing it in action is awful. It just looks like someone traced over the character model.

They've been asked about this and when asked up-front they'll say of course ray-traced lighting isn't objectively better because not all games need to look realistic and so forth. But every single video where people rammed ray-traced lighting into old games belies that and shows how they're a part of the "more tech: better" cult.

On one hand, Nvidia is known to restrict access to things if they aren't talked about on their strict terms. On the other hand, DF is independent now and they can probably afford not having to fellate them like this even if they lose insider access to their bullshit.

DLSS has to invent detail to improve an image. Up until now it tried to make the image look like the original version or how it thinks it would look like at higher resolution.

Nvidia decided that's not enough slop, so DLSS 5 will make everything look like a DALL-E image prompt. In this case, it decided to give the character a lip-filler injection and full makeup.

It kinda makes sense when they just train it on the actual game running at a higher resolution. Since the training data is exactly the target image. This is stupid though.

NGL I thought it was just different lighting making the makeup color pop a little more, but now that you mention it the lip filler is just right there.

The shitty AI upscaling tech that NVIDIA uses to enable a lower resolution to be traditionally rendered and then upscaled and then downscaled to the actual display resolution as a way to get higher FPS and replace old anti-aliasing algorithms all at once is, in this case, radically changing the actual rendered image by just kind of guessing at details and filling them in and so creating a weird faux realism filter that's also giving the character a full face of makeup.

DLSS synthesized a different face for the character making the comparison look like one of those "hire fans!" photoshops porn supremacist g*mers keep posting for every woman character ever

It looks overproduced in screenshot but holy heck it's absolutely terrible in motion. Shadows just move while the face isn't, details are inconsistent etc etc

At least slop lovers can shut up now and just do this travesty to their games. I am sure they will complain no more. Right? Right?! Not like their whole thing is complaining endlessly...

Video game artists, you're on notice!

No longer are we shackled by requiring certain talented perverts to make horny mods. We can turn them on by default!

    Deep Learning Slop Scaling

Excellent argument for never purchasing another Nvidia product ever again

I hope hell is real. I have no idea what game this is but I'm betting good money that this character is also a minor.
