Description of Request

Request to create a new Kubernetes Slack channel named #es-contributors for Spanish-speaking Kubernetes code contributors.

The purpose of this channel is to provide a welcoming space where contributors can ask questions, discuss the Kubernetes development workflow, share learning resources, and collaborate in Spanish while contributing to the Kubernetes source code.

This request is motivated by the growth of Spanish-speaking contributor initiatives, such as the Cloud Native Guadalajara study group, and the need for a contributor-focused space that complements existing channels like #es-users, which primarily serves Kubernetes users rather than contributors.

The proposed channel aims to lower the barrier to entry for new contributors, foster collaboration, and ultimately help more Spanish-speaking community members become active Kubernetes contributors.

Justification for Request

The Kubernetes community has made significant investments in improving the contributor experience, but language can still be a barrier for many first-time contributors.

A dedicated Spanish-language contributors channel would provide a safe and inclusive space where newcomers can ask questions, receive guidance, and collaborate with other contributors in their native language while learning the Kubernetes development process. This is especially valuable for code contributors, whose questions often differ from those of Kubernetes users.

Existing channels such as #es-users are focused on end users and general Kubernetes usage. A contributor-focused channel would complement, rather than replace, those spaces by serving discussions related to code contributions, development workflows, contributor onboarding, testing, reviews, and community collaboration.

Recent initiatives, including the Cloud Native Guadalajara Kubernetes contributor study group, demonstrate growing interest from Spanish-speaking developers in contributing upstream. Establishing a dedicated channel would help connect these efforts with the broader Kubernetes contributor community, lower the barrier to participation, and encourage more long-term contributors
