What is the recommended way to update Docker Containers

I have created my system using the Docker Image in Docker Desktop, what is the best way to keep it updated with the latest version without loosing any of the project?

@RobertMiller-KR2 did you use docker compose and separate volumes for project storage? In the docker compose file you just update the tag to which version or use latest tag. To update you need to stop the container and remove the old image and then bring up the container to pull the newest image from docker or it will just use the stored image on your local system

If you are planning to use on desktop you could just use the electron packaged version your system

Just download the artifact such as the exe, dmg, appimage etc the electron app allows you to save and open your project anywhere as it has built in file management

Note: even with the electron app running you can still access via web browser using the pc ip and fuxa port

@MatthewReed303 is this the same as Fuxa PRO? I use the Pro version for the additional capabilities. I used the Docker Version for easy installation and running multiple versions on one pc.

@RobertMiller-KR2 you can use docker compose for the pro version. But there are no electron app etc I have also added headless binary you just run for systems with less resources such as embedded devices. I will talk to @unocelli about adding the workflow to the pro version and a place to download the builds from with a user login

@MatthewReed303 Again I am not versed very well with Docker or Github. I did not do anything when I started the container other than edit the port it uses. I am not sure how to create a volume and use it for project storage. I have just been exporting the data and copying it over to any new systems using project save as. Is there a document anywhere on how to store the project data in a different location like you asked?

@RobertMiller-KR2 can you show me your compose file, the volumes should be created automatically and used. They are normally stored when you run docker compose from or will be in the normal docker location for volumes, you can also use portainer to see where volumes are etc

@RobertMiller-KR2 use docker compose instead of docker run, the docker compose will setup the volumes in your working directory see https://frangoteam.github.io/FUXA/Installing-and-Running/ and go to the docker compose section and copy that and just change the image tag to unocelli/fuxa-pro:1.2.7
