it’s so different instances can be shared through the same home instance, i.e.: so i can share a link from feddit.org with someone on lemmy.world, and they can still access it within the same client, through their own home instance without requiring a new login, etc.

their hoods are too high and massively increase the likelihood a pedestrian is pushed under the wheels, instead of tumbling over the hood and windshield.

these are linux systems designed to be resistant to random breakdowns.
they prevent modifying system packages in runtime, meaning they require a reboot, after changes to system packages.
why is this an advantage, rather than an inconvenience?
because they allow for rollback when something breaks.
so IF anything breaks, you can always just roll back one version (i think about 1-3 versions, ususally) and you’re up and running again immediately!
