2·16 hours agoyes, and being able to use them for everyday tasks like going to brunch, groceries, bar, etc is exactly why I have multiple, including ones I wouldn’t be too upset about losing
no I haven’t fixed the cable on the first car. just disengaged the parking brake so I can’t pull on it and seize it up again lol

2·1 day agoyeah, never going to watch that. I used a free trial of Prime to buy a couple things I couldn’t get elsewhere on time for a decent price, and tried to watch a few things on Prime Video. it was terrible. not as bad as Sportsnet, but they just don’t make it user friendly. I didn’t even bother to use it for watching stuff, I just went back to sailing

121·1 day agoa long time ago, a new coworker told me he listened to it. I checked out a few episodes. they were shit and made me question the coworker. I searched for episodes with guests I’d be interested in. those episodes were also shit.
my opinion of that coworker was definitely strongly affected by how they regularly listened to Joe Rogan. that, and the fact that their work kind of sucked

3·1 day agothey definitely are. only gay people would ride bikes. I should know, I’m huge into bikes. but I don’t ride them, of course. that’d be gay.

4·1 day agobut you will have to think about it again when the battery dies and won’t recharge
the parking brake was sticking on the car I’m fixing up to put on the road
no problem, I just took apart the parking brake on my other car and removed it because it was seizing up in the cable. surely this car that’s 4 years newer, slightly more economy, and from another non-american brand will be just as easy to do.
so I load up 1Aauto on YouTube as I eat dinner, and about 5 minutes into the video I’m starting to get a weird feeling because the guy is disconnecting the knuckle from the suspension to access the caliper bolt. that seems weird, I think. I pause the video to get something to drink, and I noticed that it’s a one hour long video. (note: typically these videos are about 7 to 12 minutes - 1Aauto is fantastic and concise on all the videos I’ve watched for my other car).
anyways, I’d seen enough, so I stopped watching and went out to the car. but I was only about 15 minutes in. to be fair, at least half of that was dealing with multiple levels of escalation to torch out the brake shoes.

6·2 days agoyes, you do lol
it’s a home/tool/auto/garden/sports/outdoors store. a Walmart without food, regular daily wear clothes, or a tech dpmt.
they’ve started locking down all sorts of shit in the past few years, it’s absurd. like, I’m not going to wait for an employee to unlock the case so I can get a box wrench. I’m just gonna go to a different store.
I remember during covid started when they’d just made changes to prevent people from leaving the store without meandering through the 100ft long checkout queue. also absurd. I didn’t buy anything because you don’t have what I need, let me the fuck out, I’m supposed to not be up close to people but I have to squeeze past in a four foot wide aisle??

5·2 days agomanagement’s refusal to acknowledge available resources and schedule projects accordingly is not my problem when it’s been well documented for multiple years now
my contract says I’m off Friday, I have my hours in now on Thursday aft, I’m clocking out and submitting my timesheet and I’m not checking messages tomorrow
edit: the key to this is not stressing about the things that you could have handled this week but are now Monday’s problem. just work at the pace that is sustainable, and don’t stress over the things that you can’t control. that is the hard part, though.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•No one could have seen this comingEnglish
6·2 days agoif it’s not an expensive item that I can’t get elsewhere, then I just don’t buy it from that store. I have gone into stores and walked right back out when I saw that a pair of gloves was behind a lockbox.
it’s like Canadian Tire not allowing backpacks - I will always ignore that rule. I’m not waiting in line to leave my bag at customer service and let some random minimum wage worker have access to my things. the experience there is so shitty anyways, and why is it impossible to leave the store without going through the cash queue
I gave in and paid for Sportsnet again this summer after trying for months to find a way to stream baseball games that worked for me. couldn’t find anything.
I hate the Sportsnet experience. it’s fucking terrible as a user. constant disconnections to what I am actively watching, or coming back to after pausing for ten minutes
this year I paid for the summer. next year I’ll just not watch baseball, I guess. which sucks, but if they won’t let me watch it without constant issues…

that’s alright, that’s what drivers with reverse cameras do as well, just stare at it and then act all surprised when I slap their car because they almost backed into me while I was out of view of their camera
I strongly dislike all these driver aids being standard. it seems to just make dumber drivers.
