I started off with an actually okay device sourced from AliExpress, the Ipega 9083S while testing if it was something I liked, then I upgraded massively to the Abxylute S9 wired rather than Bluetooth. I recommend both depending on budget :) both support all platforms pretty much with Mode settings

I don’t think we can ever trust Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to release a version that strips back lucrative “features”, but we don’t have to because many faithful community modifications are always available, from extensions and scripts that strip some bloat (Brave debloat tool) to browser programs and apps that castrate the upstream’s bloat from the beginning. Librewolf and Zen (both linked in another comment) are great options for Linux. They still allow you to use Mozilla Sync by default, but with configuration, even that can be decentralised.

After choosing one, you may already be aware of this option, but I recommend turning off browser autofill and replacing it with something like the Bitwarden app or extension and pairing it with your own Vaultwarden server, changing the default homepage if you don’t like it, and changing the default search engine if you don’t like it to another. You can also configure an engine that isn’t on the list, like a self-hosted (or public) SearXNG instance.

Overall his actual societal crime was consciously knowing his views of supporting mass violence are problematic and refusing to change or even accept a different worldview. He’s just another successfully conditioned Patriot.

Jesus fuckin’ Christ… FWIW Arch is my daily driver and all I had to do to use it was install programs I wanted (I’m familiar with the terminal so I prefer yay commands to a GUI, plus I like to consciously know what changes on my machine, and GUIs often come with recommendation advertising)

And things that I didn’t do on Windows but is unique to my use case was:

• switch DE to one that can better support my specific desire of replicating Wallpaper Engine with Hidamari;
• Install openrazer-driver for (again) my specific desire of controlling my existing Razer hw with Polychromatic;
• Fiddle with xone and xpad-noone so my Xbox controllers work via their respective dongles;
• occasionally write .desktop files for the programs I wanted that only came as an .appimage
• shop around for my preferred libre Office suite

My experience with Ubuntu and Debian have been exactly the same

sigh unfortunately there are a lot of cases where one must choose between upholding principles and enjoying genuinely good creative art. Nathan W. Pyle, David Draiman, Joanne Rowling… I’m drawing the line after ‘personally enjoying it’ while ‘ensuring my money doesn’t support the creator / publisher directly’ and before ‘recommending others buy it’.
