https://bartosz.fenski.pl/modern-fs-benchmark/ benchmarks say it all.

Same, and next year when bcachefs has nailed down the kinks it’ll be basically bullet proof with snapshotting prior to its daily updates.

pointless and easily worked around. these fonts would have a unique signature that can be detected and decoded same way the browser is doing it. basically its relying on obscurity to work.

That’s because I havent given you my take on sick leave. you’re inferring things I have not asserted. I’ve in fact agreed with you on sick leave details each time you’re brought it up and clarified where you’re misconstruing statements.
For example:
Only things I have asserted is why McConnell’s situation isnt related to a larger discussion on sick leave. Which coincidentally is exactly why I havent given you any real information on my positions regarding sick leave.

None of this has anything to do with my opinion that framing sick leave as luxurious is harmful.
we’re agreed on that. but that’s the authors personal opinion. its a fairly retarded one given that tax payers are on the hook regardless because senators have a pension. Even if we wanted to get into the discussion around what is ‘reasonable’ for paid sick leave its completely immaterial to McConnell’s case. The only factor atm his constituents being disenfranchised of their representation.
Weird that you think being in a coma means you shouldn’t get sick leave tho
Its weird that you think being in a coma isn’t by definition sick leave. you’re sick and not going to be showing up.
I think your issue is you’re not distinguishing between two entirely different states:
organizations should be required to keep you employed for a reasonable period of time in such. after which they’ll need to hire someone to replace the work you’re not doing. This is true regardless of how sick leave is implemented and administered.
Anywho this conversation is dead. we’re not in disagreement over anything that matters to either of us.

smile he didnt. his office provided a statement that provides no time range for possible recovery, makes no diagnosis, and only claims ‘physical therapy’. for all intents and purposes we can assume mcconnell will not be capable of returning to his duties for the remainder of his term.
Fun fact: comatose patients also receive physical therapy as part of their care. Everything in that statement could be 100% true, and he could be in a coma.
Edit: couple extras -
Removing him now has almost zero impact on anything (sick leave or otherwise) beyond demonstrating if the kanasas gov has a backbone. =)

doctors meet with unresponsive patients all the time while providing care. two things can be true at once.
anyways, what are you trying to get out of the conversation at this point? I really dont care about mcconnell or his well being/job status beyond the democratic reps being spineless per usual.

Something dems should have done during biden’s term.

It’s not all 100% and it needs medical certification, but it’s a lot.
this is the distinction I’m making with mcconnell. its equivalent to you ending up in the hospital and not communicating any verifiable information with your workplace on when you’ll be back. any company would replace a worker in that situation, and it’d be justified due to the lack of verifiable information. McConnel has released 0 medical records verifying his condition.

Fair enough, but if you were as sick as mcconnell clearly is that you cant/wont have a 5 minute meeting with your boss (aka someone who isnt going to cover for you) after a month then you should be let go from the workforce and moved to disability coverage from the state.
disability coverage isnt the same as employment paychecks. blah blah blah. yeah yeah. that is also a problem but out of scope for this conversation.

It is always disappointing…
Its always funny to watch people to try and claim to be part of anarchist groups and completely missing the donkey mask they have on.

the quote is a pointless detail in the overall situation.

I mean its literally fraud if he’s dead. it is serious, and it literally has nothing to do with sick leave.
The simple fact is there is enough evidence for the dunce governor to replace him and let the courts sort it out.
You asked for an example with zero violence.
No I didnt. I was explaining to you why wikipedia’s list isnt useful and why the individual stop looking into the instances on the list immediately after finding counter examples in literally the first couple instances listed.
I gave you that example. And you barely acknowledge it.
Because I didnt give a shit about your example because I knew what I’d find. but lets address it now to demonstrate the point I was making:
The June Democratic Struggle in South Korea was preceded by significant violence during earlier protests, notably the Gwangju Uprising in 1980, where the military brutally suppressed demonstrations, leading to widespread casualties. This history of violence contributed to the urgency and scale of the protests in June 1987, as citizens demanded democratic reforms and an end to authoritarian rule.
You can’t say ‘look this uprising succeeded without the use of violence!’ when the reason it succeeded was arguably because of the use of violence that proceeded it. They’re not independent events. Its the same regime, same population, within less than a generation, involving many of the same actors and part of an ongoing sequence of resistance.
My statement of there being very few examples of non-violent revolutions was a hedge because I’m not intimately familiar with the history of every civilization on the planet for all time. But every time this conversation has come up and people like yourself have cropped up I can’t recall a single instance that was referenced as being violence free.
As people have literally done for you multiple times now, you’re just fucking wrong.
The simple fact is the there are almost no examples of non-violent revolutions. Almost every single revolution has violence as a component of it. it doesnt matter if a particular group within the wider populace (ghandi) was non-violent they were uplifted by the actions of the violent groups if only to offer an alternative group to ‘negotiate’ with.
the simple fact is: revolutions dont occur unless violence is necessary, after all if violence wasnt necessary the changes would have been made long before the revolution grew legs cropped up.
A very useful tactic in this specific situation.
when you find counter examples to the premise you stop since the premise is demonstrably incorrect.
And none of what they did addresses the root cause of the problem. that you can’t take two campaigns in the same ‘region’ and separate out the impact.
Since they didnt provide the actual data they analyzed nothing they said has any value or merit.
Edit: Let me make this simple for you
To estimate the effects of each independent variable on the likelihood of cam- paign success, we employed multinomial logistic regression (MLR), which compares the probabilities that different independent variables will result in each respective outcome: success, limited success, or failure.
Even the math they used to generate their results is incorrect. two campaigns (one non-violent, one violent) in the same political sphere are not independent variables.
Here, I opened the book (research paper) for you. and look! violence was involved in the successful outcomes!
especially in light of the enduring violent insurgencies occurring in some of the same countries—begs systematic investigation.
In many cases, both nonviolent and violent campaigns exist simultaneously among different competing groups.
you can’t isolate the non-violent campaigns from the violent campaigns in such an analysis, they’re part of the same environment.
I’ll also note that the research paper doesnt clearly identify how they generated their numbers. the underlying dataset they used is enitrely absent. so we can’t make any inferences on how well they actually isolated and calculated their values.
in short: doesnt show its work.
very rose colored glasses. the extra work to identify such sites is trivial less than even the hashing approach anubis uses.
risks are minimal for data pipelining on the training side. you can bootstrap a classifier that errors towards reject to sweep 99% of the weirdness this thing is doing in a few days. we already have clean datasets we can use to baseline such systems.
on top of that its fairly easy to detect if a run is failing due to collapse. the capital costs are small.
