  • This is purely performative, but won’t be overturned.

it’s unlikely that spurious/generic parts will work unless they want them to, and even then they’ll be less effective.

Their official parts will likely be more expensive, so they’ll be easier to repair, but cost a lot more, instead of paying the repair shop.

The devices or machines will no longer become waste as much, but the parts will. Warranties will be voided etc.

What would’ve been a better law to introduce would be introducing a minimum time limit on planned obsolescence with the right to repair.

Also, in the EU many countries have law that supercedes EU warranty.

If your device has an inherent defect (was always going to break no matter what you did with it) and sometimes may need to be proven in a court of law, The warranty can be extended to 7 years (some countries are shorter).

For example if you buy a TV, and after 4 years it develops a fault outside the normal warranty, and you find out that, that model has a known fault that happens to a few of them, don’t try to repair it and void the warranty.

It may be still protected by that warranty in your country.

  • I am not 100% on this, but I think that he can go ahead with it without them. I have no idea why he would, and more details have come out since I posted that, now I just think he is scrambling to save himself, but he is probably gone. If he went ahead with it, they would probably fall in line, especially if they started to see profits for themselves. They are predominantly against the idea of it, and that there was no discussion about it.

It won’t really solve any of the other major issues anyway, but will just get rid of him - allegedly one of the worst, but no doubt we will see, if Nasser Al-Khelaifi or Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa take over, with the former expected to, and he already ultimately answers to other people.

The next president needs to guarantee that they will make this option impossible going forward, or could possibly try to do it themselves in another fashion. Nasser was part of the super-league debacle so I am not sure he would get my vote without something in writing first. Infantino won his votes by basically promising extra money to all of his voters. UEFA are a big problem themselves, it just might be better to get rid of Infantino first.

The whole thing is a crooked tower waiting to fall. I don’t think it is a matter of if, but just a matter of when. The world cup will still be in Saudi Arabia in 2034.

  • This is because organic free-range models need more chickens for the same number of eggs produced, as birds living in cages tend to be more efficient.

But… and I am just spitballing here… Isn’t it very possible that ‘birds “living” in cages’ overproduce?

There is, very possibly a shitload of wasted eggs that aren’t used or needed.

“Living” in cages also reduces protein and other vitamins that are naturally occuring if we are to believe all of the articles like this one.

So, while 1000 free-range chickens mightn’t produce the same amount of eggs as a 1000 caged chickens, I am still not sure how that makes them a worse impact on the environment. It honestly sounds like a paid-for study.
