I was going through some posts here and noticed one from over a month ago asking about changing the community banner and icon. The mods were all mentioned in a comment too and none responded, so I checked all their accounts out and none of them have been active in years.
The top mod had one comment 1.9 years ago and other than that all three have been inactive for over 2 years. It’s too bad because this community is active enough that it should have someone keeping an eye on it, or at least someone who’s on Lemmy every day.
I’d be open to taking on the job (maybe with someone else too just to be safe) but don’t know where to request access. Or I’d be willing to help someone else get the job too, whichever, but it would be nice for this community to have an active mod. Does anyone know if it’s possible to request access or whatever? I know how, as a mod, to add another mod, I’ve done that before for a community I run, but no idea if no mods are active.
I’d also like to clarify I’m not trying to start a mutiny, I’d love it if the current mods came back and participated again, but seeing as they were mentioned over a month ago and didn’t respond, and none have had any activity in 2+ years, I’m sort of doubtful that will happen.
I’ve had success posting to !support@lemmy.world asking to be made a mod of abandoned communities. The admins are generally pretty responsive, I assume because being an admin on lemmy world is a lot and they appreciate the help.

At the very least we should be talking about coffee more.
I’m so cheap I’m actually drinking the rest of my Aldi coffee.
For me that makes special coffee more special.
I make middling americanos with mediocre beans at our work machine and that makes the weekend single-origin filter coffees that much better, and also saves a ton of money.
Splitting up with 80% Aldi coffee and then treating yourself to a specialty roaster every now and again is a pretty good way of living, I find.
Idk, some of Aldi’s single origin while bean has been decent. I foolishly tried a fancy looking bag of preground just to avoid faffing around at work and nope, it’s barely usable for cold brew.
