I have chosen to revive this community following recent events however I have determined that being on this instance will cause more issues over time. Therefore I am using this chance to completely start over from scratch.
The new community will be much stronger and greater than it ever was before and I hope to see you there.
As a dbzer0 native, I welcome new communities/users, but this seems to have been done without consulting any of the members or moderators. Even if it is your community, that’s still not very cool.
Quite frankly this community is dead, what am I supposed to do argue over the corpse of what once was?
Infrequent posting doesn’t necessarily mean dead. Posting a poll and seeing if any feedback came through couldn’t have hurt. If you had just gone yourself and made a new community it would have come across different than telling everyone they have to move.
Infrequent posting? Nobody has posted here in months, there has been five posts here in the last year.
Huh that’s a strange reason for a community to switch instances or am I wrong? I feel with Lemmy’s federation, a dead community is by a lack of participation/interest. Its not like another instance will magically have more participation/interest, because we’re already federated.
Excuse me, wtf?
You can either choose to join the new comm as a mod or dont, make your decision.
We moderate on equal footing. You don’t get to give me an ultimatum about the future of this community.
You dont get to leave this community abandoned for several months and then act like you suddenly care, answer me genuinely before seeing this post did you actually plan on doing anything with this community? Because if you actually care enough to do something im willing to let you keep this place around.
Just answer me honestly, what does this community mean to you?
You share equal responsibility as me and Cassa when it comes to the current state of this community. You have no more right to it than either of us. I would have been open to discussing a move to DB0 had you discussed it with the community or other moderators beforehand. I would have opposed it, but a discussion would have been the correct place for that.
At the risk of pushing you further over the edge and removing me and Cassa as moderators here, I’m going to call this what it is: a coup.
I propose kittenz be removed as moderator of this community. I will make no changes to the community or moderator list until other voices have chimed in on the matter (Cassa at the very least).
It should go without saying, but to anyone reading this - please do not harass kittenzrulz or dogpile them in any way. Their powertripping is not an invitation to be uncivil.
Maybe I was a bit rash but knowing how these things go I would have waited possibly several months just to contact you and then several more months just to have a discussion, if you want to acturally talk im willing to talk and postpone the decision in the meantime
(my username is @kittenzrulz123:catgirl.cloud)
I’m active on Lemmy every day, and in case you forgot, you already made a matrix chat for this community. There has been no discussion about this change in said chat.
Yo what?
If you wish to remain as mod I can add you to the new one
Is recent events to do with oneninesix? Or is it smth else?
I can at least stick around here, donno how much moving would make any more posts 🤷
Yea, idk where kittenz gets off making this decision unilaterally without discussing it with either of us, but this com isn’t going anywhere as far as I’m concerned.
What did I miss with 196?
They demoted kittenz to no longer be a moderator for being a tankie.
Thanks. For the others that missed it they have an official statement: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/73020359
(or native link: https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/45960248)
Really convinced me to take your demands seriously with that one, im sure calling me tankie will make me change my mind /s
I didn’t call you a tankie. I accurately described the /196 moderation team’s decision. You’re clearly feeling very attacked right now, but don’t take it out on this community.
Yeah, basically I want to start with a clean slate starting from scratch. Since this community is for the most part dead theres no point in keeping it around beyond causing confusion.
Start your own community then. You have no right to go behind our backs shutting this one down.
This community has been dead for months now, dont pretend like this is some big deal here. The last time this community had any level of activity was well over a year ago. If you didnt get this notification you would have continued to keep this community abandoned. All im doing is formalizing it and starting anew in another instance.
Lol no we aren’t. You’re upset with admins and throwing a tantrum.
This isnt about 196, this is about ensuring that this comm can exist on an instance thats federated with more instances.
It’s really hard to ignore the timing.
The timing is that after what happened I have diverted my attention
What instances is blahaj not federated with that you want to reach?
Hexbear for the most part, I mean thats a pretty massive instance
(source: https://lem.lemmy.blahaj.zone/instances)
however I have determined that being on this instance will cause more issues over time.
Hey Kittenz, I wonder of you can elaborate on exactly what you meant by this?
Why do you think that dbz0 is the good home?
I have considered moving it to another instance such as hexbear but decided this was the best option
I ask because of the dbz0 views towards authoritarianism. The new rules of this community on that federation could even see the dbz0 admins banned from the new community as they regularly use the word “tankie” and are (mostly) hostile to authoritarianism. I am not sure how you would moderate the discussion with “left unity” in the mind.
I might be incorrect but this was a decision you took and not in discussion with the other mods. The intentions do not look good and do not see in the spirit of the dbz0 federation.
I discussed this with the other db0 admins and many other people, I did not make this decision with the other mods because for the most part they are inactive.
Cassa and I are very much active, and have been active in this community more recently than you.
If you don’t like that this com hasn’t had any posts, why don’t you post? Be the change you wish to see in the world.
Because a revival on another instance is easier than dragging around the dead weight.
What is the dead weight?
The metaphorical dead weight of the history, I want to leave it behind and this community is too tied to my name to simply let devolve into something worse.
According to @TwiddleTwaddle@lemmy.blahaj.zone, this community was created by u/linkopenschest.wav and was the reason for its success before they left. Wouldn’t this community be mostly tied with them?
In what way do you believe it would devolve without you?
Initially the community was created link but I joined on extremely quickly (I believe less than a week later), I was here since the start basically in a way twiddle wasn’t. When he left I was still here and I was left to clean the mess, I convinced him to return even for a short period of time, and then I got busy with life and other things well now I have time and I come back to a community in ruins. Sure it was partially my fault, so I will do what is necessary. Its been less than a couple of hours and the db0 community already has more members than the amount of active people here.
None of that gives you any right to unilaterally decide where this community belongs. Need I remind you that this community has seen it’s share of drama caused by you and your rash decisions in the past?
🍿
What’s the point of that community? Both it’s current and new /c/ lack any explanation of what they are about in their sidebar. By scrolling through I can’t get the central idea behind it, what it actually represents or what exactly it focuses on.
Can anyone help me with that? Can mods update it? Is it by design?
The lack of focus, if it’s shared by mods and users alike, could’ve been one of the reasons it’s now inactive.
LibertyHub is a political project started by u/linkopenschest.wav.
He left Lemmy for his mental health and we took over moderation, but he was always the lifeblood of this community. Without him, it’s largely fallen into disuse.
LibertyHub is a space for nuanced discussion of leftist and post-leftist topics and ideas, carefully and thoughtfully moderated to disallow liberals, centrists, and other right wing ideologies. It’s intended as space to discuss the finer topics of anti-capitalism/anti-authoritarianism without getting bogged down rehashing the basics of anarchic thought. Sort of like a 400 level version of anarchy101.
I copied over the old sidebar basically as a placeholder until I can figure out a new one, however making the change that’s needed to this community is simply not possible with the current team of mods
I get that it is in process rn. But skipping that, what LibertyHub was and should be about?
Ideally the goal is a left unity community, this has always been the goal however it has drifted away from it in recent times.
It would, eventually, I feel. It sounds like a very broad banner that covers a lot of topics. Maybe a group of subs working like a discord server could’ve covered it better, with each sub having a narrow enough topic?
Wow, so you abandoned a community, left the other mods to be the only ones posting there and after getting kicked out for being a tankie you stole the community off of the only active people and moved it somewhere you could infest it with hexbear?
If the Blahaj admins re-open this one and remove your accounts I might subscribe here.
This is the old LibertyHub community lol
