It’s called paying people to watch the systems during off-hours. It’s often way cheaper than setting up firewalls, setting up alerts, maintaining patches, paying a VPN company to manage connections, paying another company to handle authentication, and so on. Security constraints are getting so bad at my office I’m seriously thinking of how we can do more things with pen and paper.
Are they working with any kind of union organizer like Tech Workers Coalition? We could donate to them instead.
My employer does this too. It is a layoff technically but employees are given the opportunity to interview for another position in the company if they want to stay. If it was a “restructuring” the employees would’ve been moved to another department and possibly a new role without their consent.
I checked and there are no options to recall the governor. The best option might be to ensure as many progressive, state legislators as possible are elected to keep her in check.

I’m sure there are right and wrong ways to apply digital learning but I also think adoption has been driven by tech companies and anyone that is starstruck by the “potential” of these devices. I can almost guarantee there were no long-term studies performed prior to sticking all kinds of screens in front of kids faces. Humans have been learning and teaching for millennia using physical mediums. It’s very foolish to think we, as a species, can suddenly shift to a new medium in a single generation with no ill effects.
Won’t be long I feel before the same charge is levied on someone that wiped their phone hours before going through security.

I started with Auto1111, then moved to comfy, then started bouncing between tools including Invoke. Auto1111 feels antiquated (mostly due to it’s setup process), Comfy has been good but there’s so many nodes it can take an hour or more to setup a workflow I downloaded (plus many nodes are using the cloud which I want to avoid). Invoke has been nice for the few days I’ve used it and the biggest negative so far is dealing with the layering biz in the canvas.
