Wouldn’t a law like “stand your ground” allow you to shoot a masked man who doesn’t ID himself and has a gun?

For the most part, it’s not happening in places with lax gun laws. New York and California have the most restrictive, and ludicrous, gun laws in America. Guess where ICE is hitting hardest.
“Stand your ground” only means you have no duty to retreat. That law is not required to defend yourself if retreat is not possible.
