The ‘extra’ money comes from jacking up the prices in other items in the same store, like candy and sodas. And from not spending as much money on other stuff like marketing and bonuses.
There are two sides to the profit equation: expenses and revenue.
In order for a store to make more profit, they can either increase their revenue (by raising prices, for example), or they can decrease their expenses (by laying people off, buying from cheaper suppliers, or paying executives less, for example).
So these stores are lowering prices on some items. And making it up by some combination of RAISING prices on other items, and LOWERING their costs in other areas like marketing, executive bonuses, etc.

41% of eligible Americans didn’t vote in 2024, which is too many, but was actually better than many previous elections.
For comparison, about 31% of eligible Canadians didn’t vote in 2025. So there’s about a 10% difference between what’s considered acceptable vs. not, by you.
So I’d ask you back, of that extra 10% Americans that don’t vote, how much of that do you think is based on personal choice, and how much is based on things like voter disenfranchisement, misinformation, and making it nearly impossible for poor people and people of color to vote in red states?
If you ask me, that 10% difference between our countries’ voting behaviors is probably more due to the government than the population. So maybe that’s where we should direct our ire? But again if you just want to hate all Americans, I’m probably not going to change your perspective.
It’s not fun to live in the US right now, nor to be lumped in with the bad apples when many of us are doing what we can to resist them.
I said half are VOCALLY anti-Trump. And I also said it’s not enough. So you and I are on the same side, other than you implying I’m a parasite because of the country I was born in. Which is pretty fucked up.
But my point was it harms their credibility to claim more than half of Americans support trump when they clearly don’t. And it hurts YOUR credibility to call all Americans parasites. But if you’re just here to stir shit up and be divisive, have at me.
Talking to most of my neighbors, family members, and coworkers, the significant majority do not support trump, and I would say at least half are very vocally anti-Trump.
I won’t pretend there aren’t way too many shitheel Americans. But it’s wrong to imply that the majority of Americans support Trump. And to do it so confidently just makes you lose all credibility to whatever point you are making. Look at this approval rating which is literally a measure of how many Americans approve of him. Tell me what you find

If I told you you have cancer and I can give you a treatment that works 90% of the time and is your best option (which is literally how they frame it), that’s not good enough for you? I shouldn’t offer a service that I can’t guarantee will save you, I should just say “sorry bud, I have a really good idea of what almost always works but…it hasn’t been tested on you yet so we just shouldn’t do anything”
