Fediverse@lemmy.world•Reddit keeps pushing on being a closed platform, now rolling out mandatory logging for old.reddit.com - worth pushing for the fediverse again?English
72·6 days agoCue the invariable “but what about my niches?!!1!?” I swear some people would stay on Reddit even if Steve Huffman personally killed their family and would kill again unless they got off the platform.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•More Americans report shoplifting as inflation climbs, survey finds
7·13 days agoIt sounds like you have a very particular experience and relationship to the subject, HerbGrower? At a glance, the data seems to suggest something different. E.g., according to Uk food foundation prices for groceries in the UK have been rising (albeit more slowly recently), and many people in the UK experience food insecurity.

Edit: There’s also this other post.
Trump also said some heinous things about a postmortem Rob Reiner.

I’m going to have 1000 pizza pies, you’re going to have one. We each need to contribute to the group. You’ll give half of your pizza pie, I’ll give one whole pie. I’m a much bigger contributor than you. No one hungry should be upset with me, especially since I periodically give a slice to the people who bake all the pizzas for me. Enjoy your half pizza.

11·29 days agoDunno dude. From your own link:
Some protesters favored a fairly concrete set of national policy proposals…but this was regarded as an attempt to “co-opt” the “Occupy” name,…this disagreement illustrated a larger tension between the people inside the movement, such as people who wanted specific legislative demands and other people who believed that it is strength coming from remaining open, decentralized, and very broadly representative.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Happy Birthday guys, gals, and other pals!
9·30 days agoSorry. Not all of us were able to get our country’s gold from the nazis.
While I agree in practice (and the resultant harm is real), in theory mathematical limits exist. (And this is without appealing to the idea that humans might eventually not be limited to a single planet.)
There are many places where people must pay for healthcare. See, for example, parents dancing in China to raise funds to treat their children’s diseases

5·1 month agoCan’t valve just not allow any steam account to register on a steam machine other than the one that preordered it (for a period of time)? I’m guessing that would nip all this in the bud post haste ?

Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•Video of the journalist hit by Fascists last night at Delaney Hall concentration camp [Newark, NJ • 06/05/26]
18·2 months agoWhile I agree with you in theory that protestors should either block the road entirely or stay out of the street, it appears to me that the driver veered hard to the left in order to strike the pedestrian. This incident should certainly be investigated and any crimes charged.
I won’t stop using it just because people with inferior education sometimes don’t get it.
I doubt anyone doesn’t get it, it just sounds twice as unnatural to a native English speaker.
